Black's Game
''Black's Game'' ( is, Svartur á leik) is an Icelandic crime film from 2012, directed and written by Óskar Þór Axelsson. It is based on the novel of the same name by about the drug trade in Reykjavík in the mid-1990s. In the 2013 Edda Awards, Óskar Þór Axelsson won Screenplay of the Year (''Handrit ársins''), Damon Younger won Best Supporting Actor (''Leikari í aukahlutverki'') and María Birta Bjarnadóttir won Best Supporting Actress (''Leikkona í aukahlutverki'') for the film. It became the second highest grossing Icelandic film of all time. A prequel to ''Black's Game'' is due to be released in 2024, and a sequel in 2025. Óskar Þór Axelsson (born ) is an Icelandic film director and screenwriter. He is best known for the 2012 crime film ''Black's Game'' and the 2017 mystery-horror ''I Remember You''. Early life and education Óskar was born and raised in Reykjavík, Iceland. Hecompleted his Bachelor of Arts degree in general literature at the University of Iceland in 1997 and then spent one year in the ERASMUS exchange program at the University College London. He graduated with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Filmmaking from New York University in 2006. The Edda Award is an accolade bestowed annually by the Icelandic Film and Television Academy, and is the most prominent film and television award in Iceland, awarded annually in February. Þröstur Leó Gunnarsson (English transliteration: Thröstur Leó Gunnarsson; born 23 April 1961 in Reykjavík), is an Icelandic stage, film and television actor. Early life Þröstur Leó Gunnarsson graduated from the Icelandic School of Drama in 1985. Rúnar Freyr Gíslason (born 29 April 1973) is an Icelandic actor and voice actor. He hosts a radio show with TV-personality Logi Bergmann Eiðsson and with Friðrika Hjördís Geirsdóttir called ''Ísland vaknar'' (English: ''Iceland wakes up''). He is known for his role as Sigvaldi in the TV-series '' Trapped''. Career Rúnar graduated from the Icelandic Theater School in 1999. ''DV'' (''Dagblaðið Vísir'') is an online newspaper in Iceland published by Torg ehf. It came into existence as a daily newspaper in 1981 when two formerly independent newspapers, Vísir and Dagblaðið, merged. Early on it was one of the largest newspapers in Iceland and at one point had a 64% readership in Iceland. In the 1990s its readership started to dwindle and in 2003 its publisher was declared bankrupt. It was resurrected a week later by the publisher of Fréttablaðið. In 2006 it was changed from a daily newspaper into a weekly one. Since then it has changed publishers regularly and in 2018 its publisher, DV ehf., went bankrupt. Þorvaldur Davíð Kristjánsson (born 27 September 1983), also known as Thor Kristjansson, is an Icelandic actor and singer. Biography Þorvaldur was born in Reykjavík to journalist Kristján Þorvaldsson and Helga Jóna Óðinsdóttir, and first found fame as the voice of Simba in the Icelandic language version of Disney’s 1994 film ''The Lion King'' and ''Lion King'' (2019).
