Francis Pollock
Francis Lillie Pollock (February 4, 1876 – 1957) was an early twentieth-century Canadian science fiction writer. He was born in Huron County, Ontario, Canada in 1876. He wrote 'commercial fiction' under the pseudonym Frank L. Pollock, western or adventure fiction under the name Frank Lillie Pollock, and literary fiction under his own name. Some of Pollock's early commercial fiction can be found in ''The Youth's Companion''. He also regularly published short stories and poetry in ''Munsey's Magazine'', ''The Smart Set'', ''The Atlantic'', '' The Bookman (New York)'' and ''The Blue Jay'' (renamed in 1905 as ''Canadian Woman'' Magazine). The sale of a serialised novel, ''The Treasure Trail'', enabled him to leave his job at the ''Toronto Mail and Empire'' in 1907 to pursue a full-time writing career. Pollock's writing career was pursued in tandem with a life of beekeeping. Many of his fictions are influenced by bees. Pollock kept an apiary in Shedden, Ontario and farmed commercially. ...

Helen Brooks
Rita Bradshaw (born 1949) is a British romance novelist. She wrote historical romances under her real name and contemporary romances under the pseudonym Helen Brooks. Biography Rita Bradshaw was born in 1949 in Northampton, England. She met her husband Clive when she was 16. They have three children. A former secretary, she began writing in 1990 at the age of 40, and published her first novel in 1992 at Mills & Boon under the pseudonym Helen Brooks. Since 1998, she has also published historical romances under her actual name. She lives in Northampton. ''Bitter Honey'' is a 2014 documentary film directed by anthropologist and filmmaker Robert Lemelson that chronicles the lives of three polygamous families living in Bali, Indonesia. The film follows the wives from their introduction to the polygamous lifestyle to the emotional hardships and jealousies to their struggle for empowerment and equal rights. Production ''Bitter Honey'' was directed by Robert Lemelson, an anthropologist and filmmaker with a doctorate from UCLA. Lemelson had originally been researching the 1998 mass rapes perpetrated during the economic crisis and the fall of the Suharto regime. Realizing that these acts were only one piece of the larger puzzle of gender inequality in Indonesia, Lemelson shifted his focus to domestic violence and particularly how it coincided with polygamous kinship forms.
