Bissell's Engineer Regiment, also known as Bissell's Engineer Regiment of the West, was an engineer regiment that served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. Service Organized at St. Louis, Mo. Company "A" mustered in on July 10, 1861. Company "B" organized at Paris, Edgar County, Ill., and mustered in at St. Louis August 5, 1861. Prairie City is a village in McDonough County, Illinois, United States. The population was 407 at the 2020 census. Geography Prairie City is located in the northeast corner of McDonough County at (40.620740, -90.463582). It is bordered to the north by Warren County. Illinois Route 41 passes through the village as East Main Street, leading northeast to St. Augustine and southwest to Bushnell. Macomb, the McDonough county seat, is to the southwest. Otterville is a city in southwest Cooper County, Missouri, United States. The population was 454 at the 2010 census. History Otterville was originally called Elkton, and under the latter name was platted in 1837. The present name is after nearby Otter Creek. Missouri Pacific Railroad
The Missouri Pacific Railroad , commonly abbreviated as MoPac, was one of the first railroads in the United States west of the Mississippi River. MoPac was a Class I railroad growing from dozens of predecessors and mergers. In 1967, the railroad operated 9,041 miles of road and 13,318 miles of track, not including DK&S, NO&LC, T&P, and its subsidiaries C&EI and Missouri-Illinois. Union Pacific Corporation, the parent company of the Union Pacific Railroad, agreed to buy the Missouri Pacific Railroad on January 8, 1980. Lawsuits filed by competing railroads delayed approval of the merger until September 13, 1982. After the Supreme Court denied a trial to the Southern Pacific, the merger took effect on December 22, 1982. However, due to outstanding bonds of the Missouri Pacific, its full merger into the Union Pacific Railroad did not become official until January 1, 1997. Bird's Point (or Birds Point) is an unincorporated community in Mississippi County, Missouri, United States. It lies on an island or former island in the Mississippi River, near the confluence of the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers and is situated directly across from Cairo, Illinois.
