Bismarck (1925 Film)
''Bismarck'' is a 1925 German silent historical film directed by and starring Franz Ludwig, Erna Morena, and Robert Leffler. It portrays the life of the nineteenth century German Chancellor Otto Von Bismarck. It was part of a popular trend of Prussian films released in Germany after the First World War. It was followed by a second film, also starring Ludwig, in 1927. Julius Urgiß
Julius Urgiß (6 August 1873 in Anklam – 12 March 1948 in New York City) was a German-Jewish screenwriter, musician, and film critic. He began his career as the author of various literary contributions. He worked as a senior journalist at the Berlin film journal Der Kinematograph, writing film reviews. He wrote a biography of the silent-film star Henny Porten. In 1918, he began his career as a screenwriter. For seven years from 1919, he collaborated with Max Jungk, and in 1928 he worked with Friedrich Raff. Urgiss provided material for comedies, dramas, historical materials and literary adaptations. After the Nazis came to power in 1933, he emigrated from Germany and lived in New York until his death in 1948. He was married to the German soprano Gerty Lewin (1879-1927). Rudolf Lettinger
Rudolf Lettinger (26 October 1865 in Hamburg – 21 March 1937 in Berlin-Schöneberg) was a German stage and film actor. He made his stage debut in 1883 when he played the role of Kosinsky in Friedrich Schiller's drama ''The Robbers''. Some of his more prominent roles in his prestigious stage career were ''Cyrano de Bergerac'' and Gessler in ''William Tell''. He also worked with acclaimed stage director Max Reinhardt. In 1912, Lettinger played his first film role in ''Das Geheimnis von Monte Carlo''. Lettinger appeared in over 90 films until 1931, mostly as a supporting actor. His best-known film is perhaps '' The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari'' (1920), where Lettinger portrayed Dr. Olsen. Ernst Rückert
Anton Ernst Rückert (20 December 1886 – 3 September 1945) was a German stage and film actor. Rückert began his theatre career in 1908 and has appeared on the stage in Bleicherode, Königsberg and Kiel, among others. In 1910 he took up an engagement at the Luisentheatre in Berlin. From 1910 he was a sought-after silent film actor, initially in leading roles. In 1912 he played the first officer of the Titanic in the film ''In Nacht und Eis''. From 1914 to 1917 he served in the military in the First World War. He then continued his film career and continued to receive leading roles and important supporting roles. In the 1930s, Rückert became a character actor in film, and he only rarely received engagements in the theatre. Georg John
Georg John (born Georg Jacobsohn; 23 July 1879 – 18 November 1941) was a German stage and film actor. Early life Georg Jacobsohn was born into a Jewish household in Schmiegel, Province of Posen, Imperial Germany. Career John began his career around 1900 in smaller stages and traveling theatres. In 1904, he was engaged at the Theater of Wilhelmshaven, followed by appearances at Stolp in 1905, Altona, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Bochum and Göttingen. In 1914, John worked as an actor and producer for Vaterländische Schauspiele in Vienna. Carl De Vogt
Carl de Vogt (14 September 1885 – 16 February 1970) was a German film actor who starred in four of Fritz Lang's early films. He attended the acting school in Cologne, Germany. Together with acting he was also active as a singer and recorded several discs. His greatest hit was "Der Fremdenlegionär". An extremely successful actor in his early career, he died in relative obscurity in 1970. In 1919 and 1920, de Vogt starred in director Fritz Lang's two-part ''Spiders'' films opposite actresses Lil Dagover and Ressel Orla.
