The Anglican Diocese of Niger Delta North is one of 12 within the Anglican Province of Niger Delta, itself one of 14 provinces within the Church of Nigeria. The current Archbishop of Niger Delta Province & Bishop of Niger Delta North is Wisdom Budu Ihunwo, who was consecrated a bishop on June 3, 2018, at All Saints' Cathedral, Onitsha. The diocese was inaugurated on May 16, 1996 (Ascension Day) at St Paul's Cathedral, Diobu, Port Harcourt. The first bishop was Samuel Onyuku Elenwo, who was translated from the Diocese of Niger Delta and retired on December 31, 1999. He was succeeded by Ignatius Crosby Ogborun Kattey Ignatius Crosby Ogborun Kattey (born Alode, Rivers State, 23 August 1948) is a Nigerian Anglican archbishop. Wisdom Budu Ihunwo (born 27 December 1976) is the Bishop of Niger Delta North in the Anglican Province of Niger Delta in the Church of Nigeria. He was consecrated as Bishop of Niger Delta North on 3 June 2018. Onitsha ( or just ''Ọ̀nị̀chà'') is a city located on the eastern bank of the Niger River, in Anambra State, Nigeria. A metropolitan city, Onitsha is known for its river port and as an economic hub for commerce, industry, and education. Diobu, Port Harcourt
Diobu is a densely populated neighborhood of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, located within the Port Harcourt metropolis. Neighborhood Diobu is significant as the childhood residence of the former Rivers State governor Chibuike Amaechi. Other notable individuals who had been raised in Diobu are singer Duncan Mighty, the Mayor of Port Harcourt Hon. Victor Ihunwo and former Reps' deputy speaker Austin Opara. Samuel Onyuku Elenwo (7 December 1933 – 2008) was the Anglican Bishop of Niger Delta in Niger Delta Province of the Church of Nigeria. Elenwo was born on 7 December 1933 in Okporowo-Ogbakiri, where he went to primary school, followed by Okporowo-Ogbakiri Central School, Kalabari National College, and thence to New Bethel College, Onitsha. He was consecrated as the fourth Bishop of Niger Delta on 1 March 1981 by Timothy Olufosoye, the first archbishop of the province, at the Cathedral Church of St. James Oke-Bola, Ibadan. Ignatius Crosby Ogborun Kattey (born Alode, Rivers State, 23 August 1948) is a Nigerian Anglican archbishop. His father was Chief Amos Kattey of the Nchia Kingdom of Eleme, and a devout Christian. He is married to Beatrice Goa Kattey with seven children. Early life and education He attended St. Paul's Catholic School in Obigbo, now called Oyigbo, where he did primary school studies from 1954 to 1959. He also attended the National High School, in Aba, since 1962. He studied at Ahmadu Bello University in Aba, graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 1976. Owerri ( , ) is the capital city of Imo State in Nigeria, set in the heart of Igboland. It is also the state's largest city, followed by Orlu, Okigwe and Ohaji/Egbema.
