Birla Institute Of Technology Mesra
Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra (BIT Mesra) is a public deemed institute in Jharkhand, India. It was established in 1955 at Mesra, Ranchi, by the industrialist B. M. Birla. The institute was later headed by G. P. Birla, and the present chairman of the board of governors is C. K. Birla. It was declared as a deemed university under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Every year students are admitted based on merit assessed by All India Rank (AIR) in JEE-Main-CSAB, GATE and AIPMT for its various courses. History The Birla Institute of Technology was established in 1955 at Mesra by industrialist and philanthropist B. M. Birla. The institute was affiliated to Patna University until 1960, and then to Ranchi University. Government Funded Technical Institutes
The Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTI) are a list of 27 premier technical institutes funded by the Government of India. As per the official date the number of seats available for academic year 2015 were 9,260 approx. It follows similar academic and admission system as that of NITs and IIITs. Process of admission Since the academic year the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for conducting admission in 27 government funded technical institute through its website. Prior to 2016, the admissions are done on the basis of merit obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination - Main. 60% weight is given to JEE-Main marks and 40 percent weight is given to class 12th (HSC) marks. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) is an Indian autonomous scientific society, operating under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. History CDAC was created in November 1987, initially as the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing Technology (C-DACT). In 1988, the US Government refused to sell India a Cray supercomputer due to concerns about India using it to develop nuclear weapons. In response, India started development of its own supercomputer and C-DAC was created as part of this programme. Dr Vijay Bhatkar was hired as the director of C-DAC. The project was given an initial run of three years and an initial funding of 30,00,00,000, the cost of a Cray supercomputer. A prototype computer was benchmarked at the 1990 Zurich Super-computing Show. A supercomputer is a computer with a high level of performance as compared to a general-purpose computer. The performance of a supercomputer is commonly measured in floating-point operations per second ( FLOPS) instead of million instructions per second (MIPS).
