Avraham Biran
Avraham Biran ( he, אברהם בירן, born 23 October 1909 – 16 September 2008) was an Israeli archaeologist, best known for heading excavations at Tel Dan in northern Israel. He headed the Institute of Archaeology at Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem for many years. Biography Avraham Bergman (later Biran) was born in 1909 in Petah Tikva, then part of the Ottoman Empire. He liked to refer to himself as a ''Mayflower Israeli'', since his ancestors were among the founders of the settlement of Rosh Pina. During his youth his family moved to Egypt, where his father managed a farm in a small village. His Romanian-born great-grandfather came to Palestine decades before Theodor Herzl launched political Zionism in 1897. After his father's death the family returned to Palestine and he grew up in his grandparents house until the age of 13. Dror Biran
Dror Biran (born 1977) is an Israeli pianist. He is a graduate from the University of Tel Aviv's Rubin Music Academy and the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he earned his doctorate in studies with Paul Schenly and Daniel Shapiro. Biran was prized at the 1995 Mikolajus Ciurlionis Competition (2nd prize - ex-aequo with Evgeny Samoilov) and the Cleveland Competition (1997, 4th prize). He subsequently won the Pilar Bayona Competition (1998) and the Spring Competition in Tel Aviv (2000). He has performed internationally, both as a soloist and chamber musician. Itamar Biran
Itamar Biran ( he, איתמר בירן; born 3 March 1998) is an Israeli Olympic alpine ski racer who represents Israel in international competitions. He competes in giant slalom, Super-G, slalom and Combined. Biography Itamar Biran is a dual U.K./Israel citizen, and is Jewish. When Biran was six years old, his family moved to Verbier, Switzerland. They then moved to Israel, and subsequently he attended University College School in London in the United Kingdom. He now lives and trains in Les Houches, France, and in Switzerland. François-Pierre-Gontier de Biran (29 November 176620 July 1824), usually known as Maine de Biran (), was a French philosopher. Life Maine de Biran was born at Bergerac; died at Paris, 16 July, 1824. The name Maine he assumed (some time before 1787) from an estate called Le Maine, near Mouleydier. After studying with distinction at Périgueux, he entered the life guards of King Louis XVI of France, and was present at Versailles during the events of October 1789. Misbach Yusa Biran (11 September 1933 – 11 April 2012) was an Indonesian writer, director and columnist who pioneered the Indonesian film archives. Paul Ian Biran ( he, פאול בירן; born 25 February 1969) is an Israeli mathematician. He holds a chair at ETH Zurich. His research interests include symplectic geometry and algebraic geometry.
