Wang Bing (canoeist)
Wang Bing (; born January 2, 1978, in Liaoning) is a Chinese sprint canoeist who competed in the mid-2000s. He finished ninth in the C-1 500 m event at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. He also participated at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea and won two gold medals alongside Yang Wenjun at C2 500 and 1000 metres. Wang Bing (; born 1967) is a Chinese director, often referred to as one of the foremost figures in documentary film-making. Wang is the founder of his own production company, Wang Bing Studios, which produces most of his films. His movie on Chinese labour camps, ''The Ditch'', was included in the 2010 Venice Film Festival as the ''film sorpresa''. Recognition '' Tie Xi Qu'', Wang's 9 hour epic documentary of industrial China, was considered a major success. ''Tie Xi Qu'' went on to win the Grand Prix at the Marseille Festival of Documentary Film and was shown for the first time in Spain at the Punto de Vista International Documentary Film Festival. Joanna Wang () is a Taiwanese-American singer-songwriter, daughter of renowned music producer Wang Zhi-ping (王治平). Born in Taipei but raised in Los Angeles, California, Wang dropped out from Gabrielino High School when she was 16. Her debut album, '' Start from Here'', was released in January 2008 as a double-disc set, one in English and the other in Chinese. The album reached No.1 in Taiwan and has been popular throughout Southeast Asia. In June 2008, it was released in Japan.
