Billimari
Billimari is a town and locality in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. The locality is in the Cowra Shire local government area, west of the state capital Sydney and approximately north of the regional centre of Cowra. History The name "Billimari" is Aboriginal for "plenty of water" in the local Wiradjuri language.Treasure (1996), p. 63. In 1923 the existing silo was built which had a dramatic effect on day-to-day business in the village as there was no longer a need for wheat to be transported to nearby centres. Around the same time the neighbouring townships of Canowindra and Cowra began to flourish to the detriment of Billimari. Over time the village hall started to deteriorate as a result. In the early 1970s, Locals rallied to repair the hall and in 1976 the "Billican" was formed which produces plays among its many fund raising activities for charity. Eugowra Railway Line
The Eugowra railway line is a closed railway line in New South Wales, Australia. The branch line joins the Blayney-Demondrille railway line, Blayney-Demondrille line at Cowra. Construction The Cowra to Canowindra Railway Act was passed on 15 December 1908. Land acquisitions proceeded rapidly, with the first sod of the new lined turned at Cowra, New South Wales, Cowra West on 11 January 1909. John Bradfield (engineer), John Bradfield, who went on to design the Sydney Harbour Bridge, prepared layout plans as assistant engineer on the project. The line was built to so-called "pioneer" standards – earth Track ballast, ballasted with no fences. The branch line to Canowindra was opened with great fanfare on 4 July 1910. Cowra is a small town in the Central West region of New South Wales, Australia. It is the largest population centre and the council seat for the Cowra Shire, with a population of 9,863. Cowra is located approximately above sea level, on the banks of the Lachlan River, in the Lachlan Valley. Wiradjuri Language
Wiradjuri (; many other spellings, see Wiradjuri) is a Pama–Nyungan language of the Wiradhuric subgroup. It is the traditional language of the Wiradjuri people of Australia. A progressive revival is underway, with the language being taught in schools. Wiraiari and Jeithi may have been dialects. Reclamation The Wiradjuri language is taught in primary schools, secondary schools and at TAFE in the towns of Parkes and Forbes & Condobolin. Northern Wiradjuri schools such as Peak Hill, Dubbo (several schools), Narromine, Wellington, Gilgandra, Trangie, Geurie are taught Wiradjuri by AECG Language & Culture Educators.
