Bill Nelson (sports Coach)
William “Bill” Nelson is a former Australian Olympic swimming coach, vice president of the World Swimming Coaches Association and Coach of The Year. He is also a consultant to the National Rugby League & NRL teams, National Basketball league teams, AFL and Rugby Union, Australian Road Cycling team, and Australian Olympic Basketball team. During his career Bill coached Daniel Kowalski, Matthew Dunn, Scott Miller, Michael Klim, Nicole Stevenson, Linley Frame and Duncan Armstrong. Daniel Kowalski
Daniel Steven Kowalski (born 2 July 1975) is an Australian former middle- and long-distance swimmer specialising in freestyle events. He competed in the Olympic Games in 200-, 400- and 1,500-metre individual freestyle events and in the 4 × 200-metre freestyle relay. At the 1996 Summer Olympics, he was the first man in 92 years to earn medals in all of the 200-, 400- and 1500-metre freestyle events. Kowalski, alongside Livinia Nixon, hosted the short-lived TV show ''Plucka's Place'' in 1997. Kowalski is perhaps best known for having been a perpetual runner-up to fellow Australians Kieren Perkins and Grant Hackett, who were, respectively, the world's best 1500-metre freestyle competitors during the earlier and later parts of Kowalski's career. Matthew Dunn
Matthew Stephen Dunn (born 2 September 1973) is an Australian former freestyle and medley swimmer who competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1992. Dunn trained at the Australian Institute of Sport under Russian swimming coach Gennadi Touretski, who also taught Alexander Popov. Dunn was a specialist in the short course (25 m) events, and won several medals in the event in the 1990s. He was a multiple Commonwealth Games gold medallist in the medley events and set a world record in the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur alongside Ian Thorpe, Michael Klim and Daniel Kowalski. Nicole Stevenson
Nicole Dawn Livingstone, OAM (born 24 June 1971) is an Australian former competitive swimmer. Since retiring from swimming Livingstone has had careers as a television sports commentator and media presenter and as a sports administrator. She was known for a period as Nicole Stevenson, when she was married to Australian cyclist Clayton Stevenson. Early life Livingstone grew up in Melbourne and started swimming at 9. She attended Parkdale Secondary College. Her mother worked at Metropolitan Golf Club and her father at Carlton & United Breweries. She had an older brother, Gary and older sister, Karen. Linley Frame
Linley Margaret Frame (born 12 November 1971), is an Australian competitive swimmer who won a gold medal in the 100-metre breaststroke at the 1991 FINA World Aquatics Championships, and represented Australia at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, coming in 15th and 19th in her breaststroke events. At the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) she was coached by Terry Gathercole. She was named AIS Athlete of the Year in 1991. In 1996, Frame retired from swimming after developing chronic fatigue syndrome. Frame was a poolside interviewer for Channel Seven at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, and was a studio pundit for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. Duncan Armstrong
Duncan John D'Arcy Armstrong (born 7 April 1968) is an Australian former competitive swimmer, Olympic champion, and former world record-holder. Armstrong is best remembered for winning a gold and silver medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Early years Armstrong was born in the Queensland city of Rockhampton, and began swimming at the age of five. Ian Thorpe
Ian James Thorpe, (born 13 October 1982) is an Australian retired swimmer who specialised in freestyle, but also competed in backstroke and the individual medley. He has won five Olympic gold medals, the most won by any Australian along with fellow swimmer Emma McKeon. Kieren Perkins
Kieren John Perkins, OAM (born 14 August 1973) is a former Australian freestyle swimmer. He specialised in the 1500-metre freestyle and won successive Olympic gold medals in this event in the 1990s. He won his first at the 1992 Olympics which he won in world record time and then at the 1996 Olympics when he defended his title. In total he won four Olympic medals. Early life Perkins was born in Brisbane, Queensland. He attended Indooroopilly State Primary School and graduated from Brisbane Boys' College in the inner city suburb of Toowong. Grant Hackett
Grant George Hackett OAM (born 9 May 1980) is an Australian swimmer, most famous for winning the men's 1500 metres freestyle race at both the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney and the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. This achievement has led him to be regarded as one of the greatest distance swimmers in history. He also collected a gold medal in Sydney for swimming in the heats of the 4 × 200 m freestyle relay. He was well regarded for his versatility, and has held the long course world records in the 200 m, 800 m, and 1500 m freestyle events.
