Bill Lucas (rugby League)
Bill Lucas nicknamed "Wakka" was an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1910s and 1920s. He played for Annandale, Western Suburbs, Balmain and Glebe in the NSWRL competition. Playing career Lucas made his first grade debut for Annandale in round 9 of the 1917 NSWRFL season against South Sydney at Wentworth Park scoring a try in a 19–11 loss. In 1918, he played 14 games as the club finished with the Wooden Spoon. In 1919, Lucas joined Western Suburbs but only played two games before returning to Annandale. Lucas played in Annandale's final season in 1920 as the club went winless and finished with another wooden spoon. Annandale (rugby League Team)
Annandale were an Australian rugby league football club which played in the New South Wales Rugby Football League premiership from 1910 to 1920. Based in Annandale, New South Wales and nicknamed "The Dales", the club's colours were red and gold. The club was never able to finish higher than fifth in their eleven-year history and won just one match in their final three seasons. This, combined with the industrialisation of the area led to their omission from the competition for further seasons at the end of 1920. All these events are often attributed to the fact that fewer players were eligible to play under the residency rules in place at the time (Glebe would also later fall victim, in part, to this phenomenon). The North Sydney Bears is an Australian rugby league football club based in North Sydney, New South Wales. The club competes in the New South Wales Cup, having exited the National Rugby League following the 1999 NRL season after 90 years in the premier rugby league competition in Australia. North Sydney is based on Sydney's Lower North Shore (Sydney), Lower North Shore, and has played at North Sydney Oval since 1910. The Sydney Roosters are an Australian professional Rugby league, Rugby League Football Club based in the Eastern Suburbs (Sydney) and parts of inner Sydney. The club competes in the National Rugby League (NRL) competition. The Western Suburbs Magpies (legal name: Western Suburbs District Rugby League Football Club Ltd) are an Australian rugby league football club based in the western suburbs of Sydney, New South Wales. Formed in 1908, Wests, as they are commonly referred to, were one of the nine foundation clubs of the first New South Wales Rugby League competition in Australia.
