Bijni
Bijni is a town in Chirang district under the jurisdiction of Bodoland Territorial Council which controls the districts of the Bodoland Territorial Region in the state of Assam. Geography Bijni is located on the northern bank of Brahmaputra river, at . It has an average elevation of 53 metres (173 feet). The main river in Bijni is Dolani, which currently has three bridges over it. The longest of them is the bridge between Bijni and Kawatika. The city is flanked by two bigger tributaries of the Manas river. The city also has a flyover, which cuts the road between the northern region and southern region. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%. The counting of votes and results declaration was completed on 19 May 2016. The election brought a change of power as the Indian National Congress (INC), which had formed the government under Tarun Gogoi since 2001, lost its majority to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP, lit "Indian People's Party") led by Sarbananda Sonowal. Praja Socialist Party
The Praja Socialist Party, abbreviated as PSP, was an Indian political party. It was founded when the Socialist Party, led by Jayaprakash Narayan, Rambriksh Benipuri, Acharya Narendra Deva and Basawon Singh (Sinha), merged with the Kisan Mazdoor Praja Party led by J. B. Kripalani (former president of the Indian National Congress and a close associate of Jawaharlal Nehru). It led the cabinet under Pattom A. The Janata Party ( JP, lit. ''People's Party'') was a political party that was founded as an amalgam of Indian political parties opposed to the Emergency that was imposed between 1975 and 1977 by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi of the Indian National Congress. In the 1977 general election, the party defeated the Congress and Janata leader Morarji Desai became the first non-Congress prime minister in independent modern India's history. The Plain Tribals Council of Assam is a political party in the Indian state of Assam. In 1966, the PTCA launched an agitation for a separate for the plains tribal communities of Assam state called 'Udayachal' under the leadership of Samar Brahma Chowdhury and Charan Narzary, President and General Secretary of PTCA respectively. In 1968 PTCA boycotted the state Assembly Election on demand of re delimitation of the Tribal and indigenous Scheduled Caste Reserved constituencies.
