'' Bij ons in de Jordaan '' is a 2000 Dutch television series directed by Willem van de Sande Bakhuyzen, a biography of the singer Johnny Jordaan. The series was based on the biography ''Bij ons schijnt de zon'' by Bert Hiddema, and consisted of three 50-minute episodes. It won two Golden Calf awards, for best actor and best director in a drama show. It was released on DVD in 2009. Willem Van De Sande Bakhuyzen
Willem van de Sande Bakhuyzen (Arnhem, 13 November 1957 – Amsterdam, 27 September 2005) was a Dutch film director. He made his acting debut in the 1986 Academy Award-winning movie '' The Assault''. His directing debut came in 1990, with the television series '. He directed 16 movies in his career, many of which received international praise. His movies won 21 awards and were nominated for an additional 11 awards. Of these, six awards and three nominations were for the Golden Calves. His 2001 art film Touch and his 2002 television movie '' The Enclave'' were nominated for an Emmy Award. Van de Sande Bakhuyzen died from cancer in 2005, the day before the premiere of his movie '' Life!''. Helmert Woudenberg
Friedrich Robert Helmert (31 July 1843 – 15 June 1917) was a German geodesist and statistician with important contributions to the theory of errors. Career Helmert was born in Freiberg, Kingdom of Saxony. After schooling in Freiberg and Dresden, he entered the Polytechnische Schule, now Technische Universität, in Dresden to study engineering science in 1859. Finding him especially enthusiastic about geodesy, one of his teachers, Christian August Nagel, hired him while still a student to work on the triangulation of the Erzgebirge and the drafting of the trigonometric network for Saxony. In 1863 Helmert became Nagel's assistant on the Central European Arc Measurement. After a year's study of mathematics and astronomy Helmert obtained his doctor's degree from the University of Leipzig in 1867 for a thesis based on his work for Nagel. VPRO
The VPRO (stylized vpro; originally an acronym for , ) is a Dutch public broadcaster, which forms a part of the Dutch public broadcasting system. Founded in 1926 as a liberal Protestant broadcasting organization, it gradually became more social liberal than Protestant in the 1950s and 1960s, and the original meaning of the acronym was eventually dropped. In 1967, VPRO was the first broadcaster in the Netherlands to show a nude woman – Phil Bloom – on national television.
