''Big Sky'' is an American crime drama thriller series created by David E. Kelley and based on ''The Highway'' series of books by C. J. Box. The series premiered on ABC as a fall entry in the 2020–21 television season on November 17, 2020. In May 2021, the series was renewed for a second season which premiered on September 30, 2021. In May 2022, the series was renewed for a third season, subtitled ''Deadly Trails'', which premiered on September 21, 2022. Premise A private detective teams up with an ex-cop to solve a kidnapping case in Montana. The series is set in and around Lewis and Clark County, Montana.
