Big Ric
Big Ric was a short-lived rock and power pop band from Los Angeles, California. The band was formed in 1982 by lead singer Joel Porter. Keyboardist Kevin DiSimone previously did work on some of Barry Manilow's albums such as co-writing the song "Stay" from Manilow's album ''Here Comes the Night''. Guitarist John Pondel also worked with Manilow as he played guitar on Manilow's album ''If I Should Love Again''. The band released one self-titled album in 1983. A single from the album, "Take Away", charted at number 91 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in late 1983. The band additionally released two more singles, "Diana" and "How Does She Do It", the latter of which was released as a promotional single. MTV2 (formerly M2) is an American pay television Cable television, channel owned by the Paramount Media Networks division of Paramount Global. The channel launched initially as an all-music video service, once the original MTV had started to shift its programming. As with its parent network, MTV2's focus on music programming would gradually be downplayed during the 2000s. ''If I Should Love Again'' is the eighth studio album released by singer and songwriter Barry Manilow. The album was recorded at United Western Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California. The album was released in 1981, and it was certified gold. Manilow refers to it as "The most romantic album that I ever made", and remarks "I was so caught up in romance that I actually wrote music and lyrics to the title song while playing the piano facing the ocean, in a rented house on the beach in Atlantic City, New Jersey." Reception Bryan Buss of Allmusic retrospectively gave the album three stars (of a possible five), calling it "classic Barry Manilow; shamelessly well-crafted adult contemporary." He concluded his review by saying "It may not be the biggest album of his career, but ''If I Should Love Again'' showcases Manilow's greatest skill: making heartbreak sound hopeful." ''Here Comes the Night'' is the ninth studio album by singer-songwriter Barry Manilow, released in 1982 by Arista Records. The United Kingdom release went by the title ''I Wanna Do It With You''. It received a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA. The album was recorded at Sound City Recording Studios in Van Nuys, California. The album has yet to be released on CD in the US, but has had 2 CD releases in Japan: one was a 1987 incarnation that included a remix of "Oh Julie" (with added background vocals and additional instrumentation), and then in 1994, a new reissue came out in Japan that contained the original mix of "Oh Julie", as released in the US in 1982 on both EP and 45. The album contains three charting singles: "Memory (Cats song), Memory" (#8 US AC, #39 US), "Some Kind of Friend" (#4 US AC, #26 US), and "Oh Julie" (#24 US AC, #38 US), which was found on the UK cassette version as a bonus track. Hard Rock
Hard rock or heavy rock is a loosely defined subgenre of rock music typified by aggressive vocals and distorted electric guitars. Hard rock began in the mid-1960s with the garage, psychedelic and blues rock movements. Some of the earliest hard rock music was produced by the Kinks, the Who, The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Cream, Vanilla Fudge, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In the late 1960s, bands such as Blue Cheer, the Jeff Beck Group, Iron Butterfly, Led Zeppelin, Golden Earring, Steppenwolf and Deep Purple also produced hard rock. Barry Manilow (born Barry Alan Pincus; June 17, 1943) is an American singer and songwriter with a career that spans seven decades. His hit recordings include "Could It Be Magic", " Somewhere Down the Road", " Mandy", "I Write the Songs", " Can't Smile Without You" and "Copacabana (At the Copa)".
