Big Red (University Of Arkansas)
Big Red is the main costumed mascot of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas. The mascot is modeled after the wild razorback hog. History In the early twentieth century, wild razorback hogs were a common sight in rural Arkansas. After the team's fifth straight victory, over Louisiana State University, LSU in Memphis, Tennessee, Memphis, to open the 1909 football season, coach Hugo Bezdek told a group of fans at the train station upon their return that the team played "like a wild band of razorback hogs." The name stuck, and "Razorbacks" replaced "Cardinals" (still the school color) as the school's nickname. Since the 1960s, live mascots have been kept, the current one being Tusk (mascot), Tusk, a Russian boar which resembles the old razorback hogs; previously, the live mascots were also called "Big Red". Tusk (mascot)
Tusk is the name of the official live mascot for the University of Arkansas Arkansas Razorbacks, Razorbacks. The current live mascot is Tusk V. All Tusks so far have been male (female swine do not have tusks) and from the same lineage. Tusk travels to every home American football, football game at Fayetteville, Arkansas, Fayetteville or Little Rock, Arkansas, Little Rock, certain away football games such as the annual Arkansas–Texas A&M football rivalry, Southwest Classic game against Texas A&M in Dallas and some bowl games, occasional home basketball and baseball games, as well as other select events (such as Pep rally, pep rallies). Tusk is put into a spacious cardinal red holding pen which travels through the crowds, with the cheerleaders on the upper level, making him a crowd favorite. Arkansas Razorbacks
The Arkansas Razorbacks, also known as the Hogs, are the intercollegiate athletics teams representing the University of Arkansas, located in Fayetteville. The University of Arkansas student body voted to change the name of the school mascot (originally the Cardinals) in 1910 to the Arkansas Razorbacks after a hard-fought battle against LSU in which they were said to play like a "wild band of Razorback hogs" by former coach Hugo Bezdek. Jefferson Davis "J.D." Hogg, known as Boss Hogg, is a fictional character featured in the American television series ''The Dukes of Hazzard''. He was the commissioner of Hazzard County, and the county's political boss. Boss Hogg almost always wore an all-white suit with a white cowboy hat and regularly smoked cigars. His namesake is Jefferson Davis, the President of the Confederate States of America.
