Gregory La Cava
Gregory La Cava (March 10, 1892 – March 1, 1952) was an American film director of Italian descent best known for his films of the 1930s, including ''My Man Godfrey'' and ''Stage Door'', which earned him nominations for Academy Award for Best Director. Career La Cava was born in Towanda, Pennsylvania. His father was a shoemaker, and the family moved to Rochester, New York. La Cava reported for the ''Rochester Evening News'' and studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He was a member of the Art Students League of New York, Art Students' League. Animator Around 1913, he started doing odd jobs at the studio of Raoul Barré. By 1915, he was an animator on the ''Animated Grouch Chasers'' series. Towards the end of 1915, William Randolph Hearst decided to create an animation studio to promote the comic strips printed in his newspapers. Sam Hardy (actor)
Samuel B. Hardy (March 21, 1883 – October 16, 1935) was an American stage and film actor who appeared in feature films during the silent and early sound eras. Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Hardy attended Yale but left there to become an actor on stage. He entered the world of film with Biograph Studios. Hardy appeared in about 85 movies between 1915 and 1935, he was often in comedic roles. His best-known role to modern audiences is perhaps Charles Weston, the theatrical agent, in the 1933 film classic ''King Kong''. Hardy appeared opposite Marie Cahill in the 1910 play ''Judy Forgot'' and the 1915 film adaptation. Hardy became ill while he was working in the film ''Shoot the Chutes'', starring Eddie Cantor. He did not survive emergency surgery at a hospital and died of intestinal problems. Robert Dudley (actor)
Robert Dudley (September 13, 1869 – September 15, 1955) was a dentist turned film character actor who, in his 35-year career, appeared in more than 115 films. Career Dudley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and was educated at Lake Forest College in Evanston, Illinois and Chicago, where he majored in oral surgery. In 1917 he appeared in his first film, '' Seven Keys to Baldpate'', and then made three other silent films through 1921. After 1922 he worked consistently, appearing in three or four films a year, and making the transition to sound films in 1929 with '' The Bellamy Trial''. Dudley often played characters with a quick temper, including jurors, shopkeepers, ticket agents, court clerks and justices of the peace, as well as an occasional farmer, hobo, or laborer. His performances in these small parts were frequently uncredited. Colin Chase
Colin Chase (April 13, 1886 – April 25, 1937) was an American silent film actor. Biography Born in 1886 in Lewiston, Idaho, Chase signed for his first film role in 1915 and starred in about 45 films. In 1916, he signed a long-term contract with the Morosco-Pallas company. Chase often was cast as a villain in Westerns, sometimes being billed as Bud Chase. As a supporting player with Fox and other studios, he made the transition to sound films. He had been a cartoonist for a newspaper in Chicago and had performed in vaudeville. Chase died on April 25, 1937, a week after he became paralyzed, in Sawtelle, California. Clarence Wilson (actor)
Clarence Hummel Wilson (November 17, 1876 – October 5, 1941) was an American character actor. Career Wilson appeared in nearly 200 movies between 1920 and 1941, mostly in supporting roles as an old miser or grouch. He had supporting roles in films like ''The Front Page'' (1931; as Sheriff Pinky), ''Ruggles of Red Gap'' (1935) and '' You Can't Take It With You'' (1938). Wilson also played in several ''Our Gang'' comedies, most notably as Mr. Crutch in ''Shrimps for a Day'' and school board chairman Alonzo Pratt in '' Come Back, Miss Pipps'', his final film. Death Wilson died on October 5, 1941, and he was interred at Grand View Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, California. George "Gabby" Hayes
George Francis "Gabby" Hayes (7 May 1885 – 9 February 1969) was an American actor. He began as something of a leading man and a character player, but he was best known for his numerous appearances in B-Western film series as the bewhiskered, cantankerous, but ever-loyal and brave comic sidekick of the cowboy stars Hopalong Cassidy and Roy Rogers. Early years Hayes was born the third of seven children in his father's hotel, the Hayes Hotel, in Stannards, New York, a hamlet just outside Wellsville, New York.
