The Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Year is a baseball award given to the Big 12 Conference's most outstanding pitcher. The award was first given following the 2001 season. It is selected by the league's head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own players. The Big 12 Conference is a college athletic conference headquartered in Irving, Texas, USA. It consists of ten full-member universities. It is a member of Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) for all sports. Its football teams compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS; formerly Division I-A), the higher of two levels of NCAA Division I football competition. The TCU Horned Frogs baseball team represents Texas Christian University in NCAA Division I baseball. The 2010–12 Southeastern Conference realignment refers to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) dealing with several proposed and actual conference expansion and reduction plans among various NCAA conferences and institutions. The Kansas Jayhawks baseball team represents the University of Kansas and competes in the Big 12 Conference of NCAA Division I. History Baseball has been played at the University of Kansas since 1880. In 1993, Kansas had arguably its best season to date. That year the Jayhawks went to the 1993 College World Series in Omaha, NE. This was their first, and so far, only CWS appearance.
