Biathlon At The 2018 Winter Olympics – Women's Sprint
The women's 7.5 km sprint competition of the Pyeongchang 2018 Olympics was held on 10 February 2018 at the Alpensia Biathlon Centre in Pyeongchang, South Korea. Summary The field included the defending champion Anastasiya Kuzmina (who also won gold in 2010), the 2014 bronze medalist Vita Semerenko, and the 2010 bronze medalist Marie Dorin Habert. None of them returned to the podium, although Dorin Habert finished in the 4th position. Kuzmina had the best time in the first 2.5 km but missed twice in the prone shooting and was out of medal contention after that. After the shooting, Dorothea Wierer was leading, closely followed by several athletes, but she missed twice at the standing shooting and dropped out of contention as well. After the second shooting, Laura Dahlmeier was the only athlete in the leading group who had not missed any targets. Alpensia Biathlon Centre
Alpensia Cross-Country Skiing Centre (알펜시아 크로스컨트리 경기장) and Alpensia Biathlon Centre (알펜시아 바이애슬론 경기장) are sport venues in the Alpensia resort, located in Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, South Korea. They are used for cross-country skiing and biathlon respectively. Each grandstand of the two venues is contiguous and similar in appearance. They also adjoin the ski jumping hills. In the non-winter season, the venues are also used as golf courses named Alpensia 700. History The venues were first completed in December 1995. They were called several names, which roughly mean the Gangwon (Kangwon) provincial Nordic venue. They hosted the cross-country skiing and biathlon events at the 1999 Asian Winter Games. Valeriy Pylypovych Borzov ( uk, Валерій Пилипович Борзов; russian: Валерий Филиппович Борзов, Valeriy Filippovich Borzov; born 20 October 1949) is a former Soviet sprinter. Anaïs Bescond
Anaïs Bescond (born 15 May 1987) is a retired French biathlete, olympic champion and world champion. She is also a non-commissioned officer. Career Bescond was born in Aunay-sur-Odon. She moved to Morbier, in the Jura region, with her family and began skiing. She competed at the Biathlon World Championships 2011, and won a silver medal in the relay with the French team, a result repeated at the Biathlon World Championships 2012. Justine Braisaz-Bouchet (born 4 July 1996) is a French biathlete, Olympic champion in the 12.5 km mass start at the 2022 Beijing Games and medalist at the Winter Olympics 2018 and World Championships. Vanessa Hinz (born 24 March 1992) is a former German biathlete and cross-country skier. Hinz started in her first world cup races at the end of the 2012/13-season.
