Birkebeineren Ski Stadium
Birkebeineren Ski Stadium ( no, Birkebeineren skistadion) is a cross-country skiing (sport), cross-country skiing and biathlon venue located in Lillehammer, Norway. Situated from the town center and at above mean sea level, it has two stadium areas, one for cross-country and one for biathlon. The former has a capacity for 31,000 spectators, and the latter for 13,500. The venue was built for the 1994 Winter Olympics, costing 83.6 million Norwegian krone (NOK). It was subsequently used by the 1994 Winter Paralympics for Paralympic Nordic skiing and Paralympic biathlon. After the games, ownership was transferred to the municipal Lillehammer Olympiapark. The venue has since been used for one Biathlon World Cup, three FIS Cross-Country World Cup and nine FIS Nordic Combined World Cup tournaments, the latter with the ski jumping competition taking place at the nearby Lysgårdsbakken, Lysgårdsbakkene Ski Jumping Arena. Nadiya Billova
Nadiya Billova (born 2 September 1961) is a Ukrainian former biathlete and biathlon coach. She competed in the women's individual event at the 1994 Winter Olympics. She also previously competed at the 1986 Biathlon World Championships for the Soviet Union, where she was part of the gold medal-winning Soviet women's relay team, and also took the silver in the sprint competition. After retiring from competition she embarked on a career as a coach, becoming one of the few female biathlon coaches working at the elite level: she has had spells coaching the Ukrainian women's and men's teams, as well as the Polish women's team. During her time with the Ukrainian women's team she coached the squad alongside her husband, Roman Bondaruk. Anfisa Anatolyevna Reztsova (russian: Анфиса Анатольевна Резцова, née Romanova, Романова; born 16 December 1964) is a former Soviet and Russian biathlete and cross-country skier who competed in both sports from 1985 to 2000. She earned a total of five medals in the Winter Olympics, including three golds (1988: cross country 4 × 5 km relay, 1992: biathlon 7.5 km, 1994: biathlon 4 × 7.5 km relay), one silver (1988: cross country 20 km), and one bronze (1992: biathlon 3 × 7.5 km relay). Lise Meloche
Lise Meloche was born in Ottawa in 1960 and began her athletic career in alpine skiing and sprint kayaking. She won the junior national championships K2 in 1979. Soon after she became more active in cross-country skiing and competed for Canada in 1983. In 1984 Meloche transferred to biathlon and rapidly dominated women's biathlon, not only in North America but on the world scene for nearly eight years. Meloche was the first Canadian to win a world cup gold medal in biathlon. Meloche was one of the pioneers of women's biathlon. In a career on the national team that spanned from 1983 to 1995, Meloche competed in over 200 World Cups and two Olympics (1992 and 1994). Joan Guetschow (born September 6, 1966) is an American Olympic biathlete. She competed at the Olympic Games in 1992 in Albertville, France, and 1994 in Lillehammer, Norway. She finished 17th in Lillehammer in the 15 km distance event, hitting 19/20 targets. She also competed for her country in the World Championships in Lahti in 1991 and Borovetz in 1993. She was the overall winner of the first-ever Olympic Trials for the U.S. Women's Olympic Biathlon Team in 1992. In 1994 she also won Olympic Trials.
