Bianchi Bicycles
F.I.V. Edoardo Bianchi S.p.A., commonly known as Bianchi () is the world's oldest bicycle manufacturing company in existence, having pioneered the use of equal-sized wheels with pneumatic rubber tires. The company was founded in Italy in 1885 and in addition to bicycles it produced motorcycles from 1897 to 1967. In 1955 the joint-venture Autobianchi was created together with Fiat and Pirelli for the manufacturing of cars – Autobianchi was subsequently sold to Fiat in 1969. Throughout its modern era, Bianchi has been associated with the Italian Giro d'Italia and Tour de France winners, Fausto Coppi, Marco Pantani and Felice Gimondi. Bianchi bicycles History Edoardo Bianchi, a 21-year-old medical instrument maker, started his bicycle-manufacturing business in a small shop at 7 Via Nirone, Milan in 1885. Bianchi pioneered the front-wheel caliper brake. One of his first developments was to make the front wheel smaller and use the chain invented by Frenchman Vincent to reduce peda ...

Bianchi (motorcycles)
Bianchi motorcycles were made from 1897 to 1967 by F.I.V. Edoardo Bianchi S.p.A., a company which today is a major Italian bicycle manufacturer, and who also produced automobiles from 1900 to 1939. Edoardo Bianchi started his bicycle manufacturing business in a small shop on Milan's Via Nirone in 1885. Bianchi was a prominent name in the motorcycle racing world from 1925 to 1930. Early history Edoardo Bianchi was an Italian motorcycling pioneer who began by building bicycles in 1885. He built a motorised bicycle in 1897, and a car in 1900. In 1903 he fitted engines in the centre of strengthened bicycle frames, and by 1905 also fitted Truffault leading link forks. In 1910 Bianchi built a 498 cc single that was very successful and established the Bianchi motorcycle name. In 1916 a 650 cc V-twin was made, which was enlarged to 741 cc in 1920. In 1921 a smaller 598 cc V-twin, and a new 498 cc single with all chain drive was released. There was a 348  ...

Autobianchi
Autobianchi () was an Italian automobile manufacturer, created jointly by Bianchi, Pirelli and Fiat in 1955. Autobianchi produced only a handful of models during its lifetime, which were almost exclusively small cars, with the biggest being the short-lived Autobianchi A111, a small family car. Autobianchis were priced higher than Fiat models of similar size and the brand was used by Fiat to test innovative concepts which later found their way into mainstream Fiat vehicles; these concepts included fibreglass bodies and front-wheel drive. The most famous Autobianchi models include the A112 released in 1969, a small hatchback very popular in Italy for racing, and which ceased production in 1986; as well as the Y10, which was the first car to use Fiat's new FIRE (Fully Integrated Robotised Engine). With the Primula model, Fiat was able to introduce and proof an innovative front-engine, front-drive layout, which enabled an especially large interior volume and ultimately became the pre ...

Bianchi International
Bianchi International of Temecula, California is a worldwide producer of leather and nylon goods for the law enforcement industry. Since the 1970s they have produced items from gun holsters to Police duty belt, duty belts and everything related in between. Armor Holdings bought Bianchi International in 2004; BAE Systems bought Armor in 2007. John Bianchi, the founder of Bianchi International, was working together with his colleague, Neale Perkins, who later established his own company, "Safariland". Bianchi's right-hand man was Richard Nichols, a talented designer who was instrumental in the design and development of most of the company's products for over twenty years. Both companies have since become major suppliers of law enforcement equipment. Warren B. Kanders and the management team of Safariland acquired Safariland from BAE Systems for approximately $124 million in July 2012. Liquigas-Bianchi
Cannondale Pro Cycling Team (), previously known as Liquigas, was an Italian professional road bicycle racing team in the UCI ProTour. History The team was formed at the start of the UCI ProTour in 2005. the team was co-title sponsored by Italian companies Liquigas and Bianchi, therefore it was named Liquigas–Bianchi. It featured a number of big names including Italian riders Mario Cipollini, Danilo Di Luca and Stefano Garzelli, as well as Magnus Bäckstedt. In 2007, Cannondale replaced Bianchi as the bicycle sponsor. This marked Cannondale's return to the ProTour after discontinuing sponsorship of the Lampre–Caffita team at the end of the 2005 season. Being an American company, their sponsorship led to a small American ridership on the team. On 11 July 2008 the news broke from the French sports paper L'Equipe that Spanish rider Manuel Beltrán had tested positive for EPO after the first stage of the tour. It was blood abnormalities before the start of the tour that led F ...

Team Bianchi
Team Bianchi was a makeshift team that was put together from the remnants of the Coast team in time for the 2003 Tour de France. Team Coast had been unable to pay the salaries of their riders and Bianchi took over the team and the role of title sponsor. Coast had recently signed Jan Ullrich following his departure from after his drunk driving and amphetamine use. During the 2003 tour while riding for Bianchi, Ullrich placed second to Lance Armstrong by just 61 seconds, his closest ever margin in any of Armstrong's seven victorious years. In the process, Ullrich also managed to upstage Alexander Vinokourov, Telekom's highest-placed rider, who finished third. Team Bianchi had planned to continue on as a professional road racing team. However, Ullrich's return to his former team Telekom (later T-Mobile and ), as well as the departure of Ángel Casero led to the demise of Team Bianchi as they now lacked the star power necessary to justify a top-tier team. The Bianchi Cup
The Bianchi Cup is a major action pistol tournament in the United States, usually held over three days in late May. Since 1984 the National Rifle Association of America has designated it their National Action Pistol Championship. It is normally held in Columbia, Missouri, at the Green Valley Rifle & Pistol Club. It has the largest purse of any tournament on the action pistol calendar and is the premier action pistol championship tournament in the world. The Bianchi Cup is the only major shooting tournament that has retained its original course of fire since its inception. It is one of the most prestigious events in action shooting, with the best shooters in the world in competition each May in Missouri. Due to the diversity of stages, the tournament is widely considered one of the most difficult championships in all of the shooting sports. NRA Bianchi Cup The Bianchi Cup is traditionally held the week before Memorial Day weekend (i.e. the week before the last Monday in M ...

Bianchi (cycling Team)
Bianchi was an Italian professional cycling team that was sponsored by and cycled on Bianchi Bicycles. A Bianchi cycling team existed in 1899 which implies that Bianchi was sponsoring professional cycling at a very early stage in the sport. It appears that the team existed from 1899 to 1900, then from 1905 to 1966, then from 1973 until 1984. It existed again in 1993 and for the last time in 2003, as . In addition Bianchi has been a co-sponsor of many cycling teams. History In 1899 Giovanni Tommaselli won the first international cycling victory for Bianchi at the world championship of track racing: the '' Grand Prix of Paris''. During the existence of the Bianchi team in Italy in 1919–1920, Bianchi was also a co-sponsor of a French team that was called Peugeot-Bianchi-Pirelli which according to a historical cycling website, the team rode on Peugeot bikes. It is possible that this team rode on Bianchi bikes in Italy. The team had many famous cyclists on the team over the cou ...

Bianchi Identities
In differential geometry, the curvature form describes curvature of a connection on a principal bundle. The Riemann curvature tensor in Riemannian geometry can be considered as a special case. Definition Let ''G'' be a Lie group with Lie algebra \mathfrak g, and ''P'' → ''B'' be a principal ''G''-bundle. Let ω be an Ehresmann connection on ''P'' (which is a \mathfrak g-valued one-form on ''P''). Then the curvature form is the \mathfrak g-valued 2-form on ''P'' defined by :\Omega=d\omega + omega \wedge \omega= D \omega. (In another convention, 1/2 does not appear.) Here d stands for exterior derivative, cdot \wedge \cdot/math> is defined in the article "Lie algebra-valued form" and ''D'' denotes the exterior covariant derivative. In other terms, :\,\Omega(X, Y)= d\omega(X,Y) + omega(X),\omega(Y)/math> where ''X'', ''Y'' are tangent vectors to ''P''. There is also another expression for Ω: if ''X'', ''Y'' are horizontal vector fields on ''P'', thenProof: \sigma\Omega(X ...

Contracted Bianchi Identities
In general relativity and tensor calculus, the contracted Bianchi identities are: : \nabla_\rho _\mu = \nabla_ R where _\mu is the Ricci tensor, R the scalar curvature, and \nabla_\rho indicates covariant differentiation. These identities are named after Luigi Bianchi, although they had been already derived by Aurel Voss in 1880. In the Einstein field equations, the contracted Bianchi identity ensures consistency with the vanishing divergence of the matter stress–energy tensor. Proof Start with the Bianchi identity : R_ + R_ + R_ = 0. Contract both sides of the above equation with a pair of metric tensors: : g^ g^ (R_ + R_ + R_) = 0, : g^ (R^m _ - R^m _ + R^m _) = 0, : g^ (R_ - R_ - R_b ^m _) = 0, : R^n _ - R^n _ - R^ _ = 0. The first term on the left contracts to yield a Ricci scalar, while the third term contracts to yield a mixed Ricci tensor, : R_ - R^n _ - R^m _ = 0. The last two terms are the same (changing dummy index ''n'' to ''m'') and can be combined into a sing ...

Bianchi Classification
In mathematics, the Bianchi classification provides a list of all real 3-dimensional Lie algebras (up to isomorphism). The classification contains 11 classes, 9 of which contain a single Lie algebra and two of which contain a continuum-sized family of Lie algebras. (Sometimes two of the groups are included in the infinite families, giving 9 instead of 11 classes.) The classification is important in geometry and physics, because the associated Lie groups serve as symmetry groups of 3-dimensional Riemannian manifolds. It is named for Luigi Bianchi, who worked it out in 1898. The term "Bianchi classification" is also used for similar classifications in other dimensions and for classifications of complex Lie algebras. Classification in dimension less than 3 * Dimension 0: The only Lie algebra is the abelian Lie algebra R0. * Dimension 1: The only Lie algebra is the abelian Lie algebra R1, with outer automorphism group the multiplicative group of non-zero real numbers. * Dimension ...
