Bhānumati
The Sanskrit term, ''Bhānumati'' ( Sanskrit:भानुमती), meaning – "luminous" or "shining like the Sun", is derived from the word, '' Bhānu '' ( Sanskrit:भानु). In the Rig Vedic parlance, ''Bhanu'' is an epithet of the Maruts and means - "variegated colour", "shining with light" or "shining like a serpent" or "causing the motion of the wind". For a very long time in India, Bhānumati was a much preferred name for girls. Bhānumati was the name of a daughter of Angiras. The daughter of Raja Bhoj of Dhara Nagari was named Bhānumati who too like her father was a magician. Bhanumati is the wife of Duryodhana, the main antagonist of the epic ''Mahabharata'' Originally unnamed in the epic, the name of Duryodhana's wife is found in later versions. Padmanath Gohain Baruah ( as, পদ্মনাথ গোহাঞি বৰুৱা; 1871–1946) was the first president of Asam Sahitya Sabha and a prominent name in the early part of modern Assamese literature. He was a novelist, poet, dramatist of excellence, analyst and a thought provoking writer. Considering his towering personality and profound knowledge, he is regarded as the "Pitamaha" (great grandfather) in Assamese literary world. In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the Assamese literature and society, the British government gave him Raibahadur title, a rare honour conferred for the first time to an Assamese person. Bhanumati Devi (15 May 1934 – 4 January 2013) was a Burmese-born Indian film and theater actress. Devi was born in British Burma on 15 May 1934. She moved to Puri, Odisha, India, with her Indian family following World War II. Devi began acting in the theater in 1942 when she was just seven years old. Some of her best reviewed stage roles were in ''Lakhye Hira'' and ''Napahu Rati Namaru Pati’''. Devi appeared at the Annapurna Theatre in Cuttack for more than forty years. She made her film debut in 1954 in '' Amari Gann Jhia'' when she was nineteen years old. She was especially active in the Cinema of Odisha during the 1950s and 1960s.
