Bevare Gud Vår Kung
''Bevare Gud vår Kung'' ( Swedish, 'God Save Our King') was the first royal anthem of Sweden. Written in 1805 by Abraham Niclas Edelcrantz to honor King Gustav IV Adolf, it was set to the melody of the British anthem "''God Save the King "God Save the King" ("God Save the Queen" when the monarch is female) is ''de facto'' the national anthem of the United Kingdom. It is one of national anthems of New Zealand, two national anthems of New Zealand and the royal anthem of the Isle ...''". "God Save the King" ("God Save the Queen" when the monarch is female) is ''de facto'' the national anthem of the United Kingdom. Abraham Niclas Edelcrantz
Abraham Niclas Edelcrantz (born Clewberg; 28 July 1754 – 15 March 1821) was a Finnish-born Swedish poet and inventor. He was a member of the Swedish Academy, chair 2, from 1786 to 1821. Edelcrantz was the librarian at The Royal Academy of Turku. In 1783 he moved to Stockholm to lead the Royal Theater and later work as the private secretary of the king Gustaf III. He is known for his experiment with the optical telegraph. He inaugurated his telegraph with a poem dedicated to the Swedish King on his birthday in 1794. ''Kungssången'' (''The King's Song'') is the Swedish royal anthem. It is also known by its first line, ''Ur svenska hjärtans djup en gång'' ('). Although sung on such occasions as the King's birthday, the annual opening of the Riksdag and the Nobel Prize ceremony, the song is not considered the Swedish national anthem. ''Du gamla, Du fria'' is the ''de facto'' national anthem of Sweden, but has never been officially recognised. The lyrics were written by Carl Vilhelm August Strandberg and the music composed for four part male chorus by Otto Lindblad. Gustav IV Adolf
Gustav IV Adolf or Gustav IV Adolph (1 November 1778 – 7 February 1837) was King of Sweden from 1792 until he was deposed in a coup in 1809. He was also the last Swedish monarch to be the ruler of Finland. The occupation of Finland in 1808–09 by Russian forces was the immediate cause of Gustav Adolf's overthrow, violently initiated by officers of his own army. Following his abdication on 29 March 1809, an Instrument of Government was hastily written, which severely circumscribed the powers of the monarchy. The "Instrument" was adopted in 1809 on 6 June, the National Day of Sweden now as well as in his time. It remained in force until replaced in 1974.
