Betty's Bunch
''Betty's Bunch'' was a television drama/adventure series from New Zealand, produced in 1989. Aimed at a young audience, the story revolved around four foster kids living with Betty. Though things are not always easy financially for the family, they keep the spirit up. Things quickly become more difficult when they attract the attention of the two thieves Arthur and The Charmer. Soon afterwards, Betty is kidnapped and her foster children are forced to search for her, as well as avoid being separated by social services. The series was repeated on New Zealand afternoon television in 1993 and screened in the UK on Channel Four. The music and memorable theme tune was performed by Dave McArtney of Hello Sailor. Dean Parker
Dean Leo Parker (20 August 1947 – 14 April 2020) was a New Zealand screenwriter, playwright, journalist and political commentator based in Auckland. Known for the screenplay of iconic film ''Came a Hot Friday'' which he co-wrote with Ian Mune, the television film '' Old Scores'' and recent play ''Midnight in Moscow'' and was awarded Laureate of the New Zealand Arts Foundation in 2010. Biography Early years Parker was born in Napier, Hawke's Bay. He went to school at Napier Marist and St John's College, Hastings. By 1969 he was living in London, England. While of mainly Irish ancestry, he knew little of the Irish struggle until The Troubles began that year in Northern Ireland. Parker joined the Northern Ireland Civil Rights Solidarity Campaign, led by the International Socialists (now known as the Socialist Workers Party), and immersed himself in literature on the Irish struggle. Ian Watkin
Ian Watkin (25 January 1940 – 18 May 2016) was a New Zealand actor known for the films ''Braindead'' and '' Sleeping Dogs''. Watkin grew up in Greymouth, and started his career in theatre and radio plays, and working as a magazine editor before emigrating to Australia in 1999 where he continued to appear in numerous television and theatre roles and also became a wine broker. He was also known as Mr. Big Cheese due to a television commercial in which he appeared. After having appeared in ''Pukemanu'', he featured in an episode of ''Ngaio Marsh Theatre'' in 1977. His later roles included '' Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones'' and ''Charlotte's Web'' in 2006. Death Ian Watkin died of cancer on 18 May 2016, aged 76. Tina Grenville is a New Zealand actor, model, presenter and writer. She attended Wellington Girls' College and moved into modelling becoming the 1964 Model of the Year. Frank Edgar Richard Whitten (15 November 1942 – 12 February 2011) was a New Zealand television actor.
