Bethesda-by-the-Sea
Bethesda-by-the-Sea is an Episcopal Church by the Lake Worth Lagoon in Palm Beach, Florida. It is part of the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida and the oldest existing congregation in Palm Beach. The church building is an example of the gothic revival style and surrounds a courtyard. History Initially the church began in the Little Red Schoolhouse in January 1889. The initial church was built of mostly wood from lumber from the beach with service beginning in April that year. There was little access to the church aside from by boat. A larger new lot was sought in the following years with a rectory being built in 1890 and a second church built in the spring of 1895. The second church held its last service on Easter Sunday April 12, 1925. The church held the first service at its current location on Christmas Day 1926. The Bethesda Meeting House (BMH) is a historic Presbyterianism, Presbyterian Church (building), church complex located at Bethesda, Maryland, Bethesda, Montgomery County, Maryland, Montgomery County, Maryland, USA. Its name became the namesake of the entire surrounding community in the 1870s. Bethesda Episcopal Church (Saratoga Springs)
Bethesda Episcopal Church is an Episcopal Church in Saratoga Springs, New York. The parish was incorporated in 1830, and in 1841 it purchased the site of its present church at 26 Washington Street. Architect Richard Upjohn drew up plans for the church in English Gothic style, and construction began in 1842. The first services were held in the building in 1844, and side aisles were added in 1856. In 1886, Mrs. Rockwell Putnam, widow of the owner of the Grand Union Hotel in Saratoga Springs, donated money for construction of a tower in memory of her late husband. Architect A. Page Brown designed the additions in Norman Romanesque style, and the work was completed in 1887. A notable feature of the renovation was the addition of Tiffany windows in the front facade.
