Steve Johnson (coach)
Steve Johnson (born May 25, 1956) is an American former college football coach. He was the head football coach at Bethel University in Arden Hills, Minnesota from 1989 to 2023. A native of Chicago, Johnson played college football at Bethel, starting for four seasons as a defensive lineman. He served as the head football coach at Cathedral High School in St. Cloud, Minnesota from 1982 to 1985, compiling a record of 20–17. In 1986, he was a graduate assistant at the University of Minnesota under head football coach John Gutekunst. Johnson then coached wide receivers at Montana State University, before returning to Bethel as head football coach in 1989. Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) is a college athletic conference which competes in NCAA Division III. All 13 of the member schools are located in Minnesota and are private institutions, with only two being non-sectarian. The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) is an association of over 11,000 American football coaches and staff on all levels. The coaching staff is a group of non-athletes tied to a sports team. A coaching staff can be existent at all levels of athletics. It is led by a head coach (known as a manager or senior coach in some sports) and consists of one or more assistant coaches, physicians, massage therapists, Athletic trainers, equipment managers, nutritionists and others, all required to pass training courses for reliability.
