''Best of the Beach Boys'' is the first compilation album released by American rock band the Beach Boys through Capitol Records in 1966. The first version was released in the United States on July 5, 1966, two months after ''Pet Sounds''. Another version of ''Best of The Beach Boys'' was issued in the United Kingdom on November 11, 1966, with a track listing that differed from the American release. North American release The American release of ''Best of The Beach Boys'' includes a selection of 12 songs the band had recorded from 1963 to 1965, many of them singles or B-sides. The album reached number eight on the US charts and was certified gold by the RIAA on April 12, 1967, and double platinum on December 1, 1991. ''Best of The Beach Boys'' is currently out of print. Stereo versions of the album are labeled Duophonic on the small print and the labels, though many tracks use true stereo mixes where available. The Beach Boys
The Beach Boys are an American Rock music, rock band that formed in Hawthorne, California, in 1961. The group's original lineup consisted of brothers Brian Wilson, Brian, Dennis Wilson, Dennis, and Carl Wilson, their cousin Mike Love, and friend Al Jardine. "Surfer Girl" is a song by American rock band the Beach Boys from their 1963 album '' Surfer Girl''. Written and sung by Brian Wilson, it was released as a single, backed with "Little Deuce Coupe", on July 22, 1963. The single was the first Beach Boys record to have Wilson officially credited as the producer. Background Wilson frequently referred to "Surfer Girl" as his first original composition. However, his closest high school friends disputed this, recalling that Wilson had written numerous songs prior to "Surfer Girl". The lyrics were inspired by Judy Bowles, Wilson's first serious girlfriend, whom he had dated for three and a half years. "You're So Good to Me" is a song written by Brian Wilson and Mike Love for the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on July 5, 1965, on their ninth studio album ''Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)''. It was later included as the B-side of the group's single "Sloop John B", which was released on March 21, 1966. ''Mojo'' later wrote that the song was the closest the group had come to northern soul. Background and recording Brian Wilson wrote "You're So Good to Me" while in Hawaii. He commented on the song, "The ones that aren't the hardest, right, they're the best… 'You're So Good to Me' was written in 20 minutes. I knew it was special. ''The Beach Boys Today!'' is the eighth studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released March 8, 1965 on Capitol Records. ''Shut Down Volume 2'' is the fifth album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released March 2, 1964 on Capitol Records. Produced by Brian Wilson, it is the follow-up to the band's ''Little Deuce Coupe'', released the previous October, and to '' Shut Down'', a Capitol compilation album. ''Shut Down Volume 2'' was the first of three studio albums that the band released in 1964, and the first recorded without guitarist David Marks, who departed from the band following disagreements with manager Murry Wilson. ''All Summer Long'' is the sixth album by American rock music, rock band the Beach Boys, released July 13, 1964 on Capitol Records. Regarded as their first artistically unified collection of songs, as well as one of the first true concept albums, it marked the Beach Boys' first LP that was not focused on themes of cars or surfing. Gary Usher
Gary Lee Usher (December 14, 1938 – May 25, 1990) was an American rock musician, songwriter, and record producer, who worked with numerous California acts in the 1960s, including the Byrds, the Beach Boys, and Dick Dale. Usher also produced fictitious surf groups or hot rod groups, mixing studio session musicians with his own troops (Chuck Girard, Dick Burns and others). These bands included the Super-Stocks, with the hot-rod song "Midnight Run", and the Kickstands. Death Usher died of lung cancer at his home in his hometown of Los Angeles, California, on May 25, 1990 at the age of 51.
