Bert Kelly
Charles Robert "Bert" Kelly CMG (22 June 1912 – 17 January 1997), was an Australian politician and government minister. He was influential in moving Australian political parties away from support for high-tariff policies. Early life Kelly was born in Tarlee, South Australia and educated at Prince Alfred College, Adelaide. His father, Stan Kelly was a part-time Commissioner of the Commonwealth Tariff Board from 1929 to 1940, and supported its opposition to the high-tariff policies of successive Australian governments. He was a farmer before entering politics and in 1951, he was granted a Nuffield Fellowship to study farming in the United Kingdom. Political career Kelly was elected as the Liberal Party member for the House of Representatives seat of Wakefield at the 1958 election. Bert Kelly (June 2, 1882 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa – January 1968 in Long Beach, New York) was an American musician, who pioneered jazz as a banjoist, bandleader, educator, promoter, night club owner, and night club operator. After professional stints in Seattle and San Francisco, Kelly moved to Chicago in 1914 where he flourished a banjoist, bandleader, and promoter. In 1915 — before the U.S. prohibition — he founded and operated a Chicago speakeasy called " Bert Kelly's Stables," where patrons were introduced to early jazz. Albert Kelly (born 21 March 1991) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a or for the Redcliffe Dolphins in the Brisbane Rugby League. He has previously played for the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks and the Gold Coast Titans in the NRL, and Hull Kingston Rovers and Hull FC in the Super League. Bertram George Kelly (4 January 1884 – 1976) was born in Douglas, Isle of Man, Douglas, on the Isle of Man, and is credited with bringing electricity to the Island. Early life Bertram Kelly was born into a Manx people, Manx seafaring family on 4 January 1884. His mother was Margaret Quirk and his father was Captain James Kelly. Captain Kelly was a master mariner who changed careers later in life to become manager of Southend-on-Sea Pier, Pavilion and Electric Tramways in 1887. Following this appointment, Captain Kelly moved his family to England. Bertram Kelly was educated at Southend High School for Boys and Walton College before studying electrical engineering at the Royal Technical College, Glasgow. Burt Kelly (October 6, 1898 – 1983) was an American film producer and writer. He was best known for Columbia Pictures' Blondie series. He founded KBS Productions Inc. in 1932, along with Sam Bischoff and William Saal. Career Kelly was a former stock company manager who entered the film industry as a booking agent for the Paramount Publix theater chain. He later functioned as an executive with Educational Pictures, a purveyor of comedy two-reelers, and then Poverty Row’s Tiffany Pictures. In 1932, Kelly founded KBS Productions with Sam Bischoff and William Saal. The company thats name was derived from the initials of its three founders took over the former production facilities of Tiffany Pictures where they produced low budget Ken Maynard Westerns, and films such as ''The Death Kiss'' with Bela Lugosi, and Sherlock Holmes’ ''A Study in Scarlet''.
