Bert Johnston
Rear Admiral (Upper Half) Charles Herbert Johnston Jr., United States Navy (born 1948), was appointed Vice Commander of the Naval Air Systems Command, ( NAVAIR) at NAS Patuxent River, Maryland in December 2001. Biography Johnston grew up in Memphis, Tennessee, and attended Memphis University School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from Mississippi State University. Johnston entered the navy through the Aviation Officer Candidate Program and was commissioned in October 1973. He received a Master of Science degree in aeronautical systems from the University of West Florida while earning his naval aviator wings in 1975. He served in Attack Squadron 15 aboard , flying the A-7E Corsair with Adm Mark P. Fitzgerald. He next reported to Attack Squadron 174 as an instructor pilot and weapons training officer. Bertie Johnston
Edward Bertram Johnston (11 January 1880 – 6 September 1942), known as Bertie Johnston, was the Western Australian Legislative Assembly member for Williams-Narrogin from 1911 to 1928, and a Senator from 1929 until 1942. His resignation from the Australian Labor Party in 1915 made possible the defeat of John Scaddan's Labor government in Western Australia. Early life Johnston was born in Geraldton, Western Australia on 11 January 1880, the son of Harry Johnston, Surveyor-General of Western Australia. He was educated at High School (now Hale School) in Perth, and from 1895 to 1909 was employed as a clerk in the Lands and Surveys Department. He later became a wheat and sheep farmer near Narrogin, and a substantial investor in hotels and real estate. Bert Johnston (footballer)
Robert Johnston (2 June 1909 – 27 September 1968) was a Scottish footballer who played for Sunderland and Scotland as a central defender. Johnston made his debut for Sunderland on 25 April 1931 against West Ham United in a 3–0 win at Upton Park. He joined Sunderland aged just 20 from the Scottish Junior leagues and found it hard to break into the team, though he played more regularly after others left. Johnston played for Sunderland from 1929 until 1939 making 146 league appearances, without scoring a goal. While on a squad tour to Spain in the summer of 1935, Johnston suffered from an attack of malaria; he recovered to play a part in the club's Football League title-winning campaign in the 1935–36 season, as well as the 1936 FA Charity Shield and the FA Cup victory at Wembley in 1937. Herbert Johnston
Herbert Arthur Johnston (16 April 1902 – 5 April 1967) was a British runner who competed in events ranging from one to four miles. Career He won a silver medal in the 3000 metre team event at the 1924 Summer Olympics, together with Bertram Macdonald and George Webber. At the 1928 Summer Olympics he finished eighth in the 5000 metre race. He continued to contribute to British athletics after he retired from running by coaching several prominent long-distance runners including Jim Peters, who held the world record in the marathon for six years, as well as Stan Cox and Fred Norris.
