Berlin Mexikoplatz Station
Berlin Mexikoplatz (in German ''Bahnhof Berlin Mexikoplatz'') is a railway station in the Zehlendorf district of Berlin, Germany. It is served by the Berlin S-Bahn line S1 and several local bus lines. It is also planned to extend the U3 U-Bahn line here. The station was erected in 1904 as one of the few genuine Art Nouveau buildings in Berlin and it is heritage listed. Its name changed several times: from ''Zehlendorf-Beerenstraße'' to ''Zehlendorf-West'' in 1911, to ''Lindenthaler Allee'' in 1958 and finally to ''Mexikoplatz'' in 1987. History The station, which was built to plans by the architects Hart & Lesser, was opened on 1 November 1904 under the name of ''Zehlendorf-Beerenstraße''. Seven years later, on 15 December 1911, its name changed for the first name to ''Zehlendorf-West''. On 15 May 1933, electric operations commenced at the station. The Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg (VBB) is a transport association run by public transport providers in the German states of Berlin and Brandenburg. It is a private limited company owned jointly by the states of Berlin and Brandenburg (with one third each) and the 18 counties and cities of Brandenburg with 1.85% each. It was founded on 30 December 1996. VBB claims to be one of the largest transport associations in Europe based on the area covered of 30,367 km² with nearly 6 million inhabitants. The Deutsche Reichsbahn or DR ''(German Reich Railways)'' was the operating name of state owned railways in the German Democratic Republic (East Germany), and after German reunification until 1 January 1994. In 1949, occupied Germany's railways were returned to German control after four years of Allied control following World War II. Kleinmachnow
Kleinmachnow is a municipality of about 20,000 inhabitants in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, in Brandenburg, Germany. It is situated South-West of the borough of Steglitz-Zehlendorf and East of Potsdam. First mentioned in the Landbuch of Karl IV in 1375, the place played an important role at the Bäke beek / creek crossing, secured by multiple medieval castles. The last of these castles (none of which are preserved today) belonged to the Knights of Hake, a family who shaped the local history until the 20th century. Krumme Lanke, literally “Crooked Lake“, is a Berlin U-Bahn station on the . It is the line's southwestern terminus, located in the Zehlendorf district of Berlin. The U4 is a line of the Berlin U-Bahn in Germany, the shortest in Berlin's U-Bahn system with a length of . It serves five stations, with only the two termini being step-free. Ruhleben is a Berlin U-Bahn station, the western terminus of line U2. Named after the adjacent ''Ruhleben'' neighbourhood, it is located in the Westend district close to the border with Spandau.
