He was also the progenitor of the Israelite Tribe of Benjamin. Unlike Rachel's first son, Joseph, Benjamin was born in Canaan according to biblical narrative. In the Samaritan Pentateuch, Benjamin's name appears as "Binyamēm" (Samaritan Hebrew: , "son of days"). In the Quran, Benjamin is referred to as a righteous young child, who remained with Jacob when the older brothers plotted against Joseph. Later rabbinic traditions name him as one of four ancient Israelites who died without sin, the other three being Chileab, Jesse and Amram. The Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) was a fraternal organization composed of veterans of the Union Army (United States Army), Union Navy (U.S. Navy), and the Marines who served in the American Civil War. It was founded in 1866 in Decatur, Illinois, and grew to include hundreds of "posts" (local community units) across the North and West. It was dissolved in 1956 at the death of its last member. Benjamin Stephenson (July 8, 1769 – October 10, 1822) was the Congressional Delegate for the Illinois Territory from 1814 until 1817, and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention which enabled Illinois' statehood. Early and family life Born in Gettysburg, Adams County, Pennsylvania to the former Maria Reed (1742-1828) and her husband James Stephenson (1740-1804), the family moved to Martinsburg, Berkeley County, Virginia (now West Virginia) by 1790, where his father died in 1804. His eldest brother William would move to Knoxville, Tennessee with their mother and sisters, and his middle brother James would remain in western Virginia, serve in the militia and likewise become a congressman. He married Lucy Swearingen (1788-1850), daughter of Virginia militia Col. Van Swearingen; their son James W. Stephenson would become an Illinois state senator and embroiled in scandals. Benjamin Robert Stephenson
Benjamin Robert Stephenson (April 10, 1835 – January 16, 1890) was a lawyer and political figure in New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Charlotte County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick as a Liberal member from 1867 to 1882. His surname also appears as Stevenson in some sources. He was born in St. Andrews, New Brunswick, the son of Robert Stephenson, and was educated there and at the University of New Brunswick. Stephenson was called to the bar in 1860 and, in 1866, he married Kate Bolton, the sister of John Bolton, who represented Charlotte in the federal parliament. He served as registrar of probates for the county. Benjamin Stephenson is a television executive, formerly controller of drama at the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) and currently Head of Television at Bad Robot Productions in the United States. Personal life Stephenson attended The Hewett School in Norwich before studying at Manchester University, where he gained a first-class degree in drama. Television In 1999 Stephenson worked at Granada as a script editor on the television series '' Heartbeat''. He later worked in the same role for '' London's Burning'' and ''Blood Strangers''. Stephenson worked at Channel 4 for over two years, on shows such as ''No Angels''. He next moved to Shed Productions, and Tiger Aspect.
