Bengal Cricket Team
The Bengal cricket team represents the Indian state of West Bengal in domestic first-class cricket. It is considered Eastern India's strongest cricket team. The team plays its home matches at the historic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Bengal has won two Ranji Trophy victories and has been runner-up a total of 12 times. Bengal won the Vijay Hazare Trophy, also known as the Ranji One Day Trophy, in 2012. Under the captaincy of Sourav Ganguly, it beat Mumbai in the finals at the Feroz Shah Kotla Ground, Delhi on 12 March 2012. Competition history Bengal's first success came in the third Ranji Trophy season (1936/37), in which it came runners-up to Nawanagar. Two years later it beat Southern Punjab in the final of the Ranji Trophy to become the 4th team to hold the title. Manoj Tiwary (cricketer)
Manoj Kumar Tiwary (born 14 November 1985) is an Indian cricketer and politician. He is a right-handed batsman who bowls occasional leg break. Tiwary represents Bengal in domestic cricket and played for Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders, Kings XI Punjab and Rising Pune Supergiants in the Indian Premier League. He played One Day Internationals and Twenty20 Internationals for the Indian national cricket team. In 2021, he joined All India Trinamool Congress political party and was elected to the West Bengal Legislative Assembly later in the year. Career Tiwary plays as an aggressive right-handed batsman. Nirode Ranjan "Putu" Chowdhury (23 May 1923, Jamshedpur, India - 14 December 1979, Durgapur, India) was an Indian cricketer. A medium pace bowler, Putu Chowdhury had an outstanding start to his career. Playing for Bihar in the Ranji Trophy, he took 11, 9 and 10 wickets in his first three matches. In 1944-45, he took a hat-trick against Bengal Governor's XI in Eden Gardens which included the wickets of Vinoo Mankad, Mushtaq Ali and Lala Amarnath. Mohammed Shami
Mohammed Shami Ahmed (born 3 September 1990) is an Indian international cricketer who plays for the Indian national cricket team in all formats of the game as a right-arm fast bowler. Laxmi Ratan Shukla ( bn, লক্ষ্মী রতন শুক্লা) (born 6 May 1981), is a former Indian cricketer and politician. He played as a right-handed middle-order batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler for the Bengal cricket team. Gopal Bose
Gopal Bose ( ; 20 May 1947 – 26 August 2018) was an Indian cricketer. He played domestic cricket for Bengal and played one One Day International for India against England in 1974. Bose was born in Kolkata, Indian state of West Bengal. He was a relatively successful first-class player with an ability to play long innings. He was selected in the national team for the tour of Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) where he impressed with a 194-run partnership with Sunil Gavaskar. He was again selected in the 14-member squad for the West Indies tour of 1974–75 but was surprisingly left out of the playing eleven and was never considered thereafter. Pankaj Roy (; 31 May 1928 – 4 February 2001) was an Indian cricketer and former national cricket team captain. He was right-handed opening batsman, he is best known for establishing the world record opening partnership of 413 runs, together with Vinoo Mankad, against New Zealand at Chennai. Dilip Rasiklal Doshi (born 22 December 1947) is a former Indian cricketer of Gujarati origin who played in 33 Test matches and 15 One Day Internationals from 1979 to 1983. Devang Jayant Gandhi (born 6 September 1971) is a former Indian cricketer. He was a right-handed opening batsman and a very occasional right-arm medium-pace bowler. He played for Bengal, Hadleigh and Thundersley Cricket Club, Essex.
