Alexandru Benga
Alexandru Constantin Benga (born 15 June 1989) is a Romanian professional footballer who plays as a defender for Liga I club UTA Arad. Career Benga joined Botev Plovdiv on 18 January 2014. On 22 July 2014, Benga signed a one-year contract with Gabala of the Azerbaijan Premier League. In December of the same year, following the appointment of Roman Hryhorchuk, Benga was told he was no longer required by the club, and continued to train in Gabala on his own instead of terminating his contract early, eventually leaving the club in June 2015. After leaving Gabala, Benga returned to Petrolul Ploiești, signing a three-year contract. In January 2018, Benga joined Polish club Sandecja Nowy Sącz on a 6-month contract. He made his Ekstraklasa debut in 0–0 draw against Śląsk Wrocław on 3 March 2018. After Sandecja's relegation by the end of 2017–18 season, he left the club. Gheorghe Benga
Gheorghe Benga (born January 26, 1944 in Timișoara, Romania) is a Romanian physician and molecular biologist. He is professor and chairman in the Department of Cell and Molecular Biology of the Iuliu Hațieganu University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, and a titular member of the Romanian Academy. Benga did his studies in Cluj-Napoca, earning an M.D. from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 1967, and an M.Sc. in Chemistry from Babeș-Bolyai University in 1973. In 1986, together with collaborators Octavian Popescu and Victor I. Pop, Benga showed the existence of a protein water channel in the red blood cell membrane. Two years later, in 1988, Peter Agre independently isolated the protein and demonstrated it was a ubiquitously expressed water transport protein, naming it aquaporin. Ota Benga
Ota Benga ( – March 20, 1916) was a Mbuti ( Congo pygmy) man, known for being featured in an exhibit at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition in St. Louis, Missouri, and as a human zoo exhibit in 1906 at the Bronx Zoo. Benga had been purchased from local African slave traders by the explorer Samuel Phillips Verner, a businessman searching for African people for the exhibition, who took him to the United States. While at the Bronx Zoo, Benga was allowed to walk the grounds before and after he was exhibited in the zoo's Monkey House. Benga was placed in a cage with an orangutan as a lampoon on Darwinism. To enhance the primitive image and presumably protect himself if need be from the ape, he was given a functional bow and arrow. He used this instead to shoot at visitors who mocked him and partially as a result of this the exhibition was ended.
