Steve Benen (born May 15, 1973) is an American political writer, blogger, MSNBC contributor and producer of ''The Rachel Maddow Show'', for which he received two Emmy Awards in 2017. His first book, ''The Impostors: How Republicans Quit Governing and Seized American Politics'', was published by William Morrow and Company in June 2020. Early life and education Benen was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and received his B.A. in Political Science from Florida International University, where he served in the student government alongside future Maryland state legislator Kirill Reznik. He received a master's degree in Political Management from George Washington University, and was an intern in President Bill Clinton's White House. Career Politics In 1996, he was the communications director for an unsuccessful Democratic congressional campaign in Pennsylvania. Saint Benen
Saint Benignus of Armagh (died 467) was the son of Sesenen, an Irish chieftain in the part of Ireland that is now called as County Meath. He was baptised into the Christian faith by St. Patrick, and became his favourite disciple and his coadjutor in the Diocese of Armagh around AD 450. His gentle disposition suggested the name Benen, which was Latinised as Benignus. He followed his master in his travels and assisted him in his missionary labours, helping in the formation of choral services. His family may have belonged to the bardic order. From his musical achievements he was known as "Patrick's psalm-singer". As Benignus had been trained by Patrick in sacred learning from his youth and was well versed in the language and learning of his native land, he was appointed secretary to the Commission of Nine, which a few years before had been directed to compile the Brehon Laws. Benén's Poem
Dartrey Forest (sometimes Dartrey Estate or Dawson Grove Estate) is a forest and estate near Rockcorry in north-west County Monaghan, Ireland. It was formerly part of the Barony (Ireland), Barony of Dartree, Dartrey and was the country estate of the Dawson family, who had the title Earl of Dartrey from 1866 to 1933. The once vast estate was centred on Dartrey House which was demolished in 1946. The forest's main gate is only a few miles from Cootehill. It is currently managed by Coillte Teoranta, Coillte as a commercial forest. The Forest is partially bordered by what is known locally as 'the Famine Wall', which stretches halfway along the road from Cootehill to Rockcorry (the Regional roads in Ireland, R188). Just across the R188, the main Cootehill to Rockcorry road, near the main gate into the forest, is the Dawson Monument, a fine Neo-classical architecture, neo-Classical Column (architecture), column designed by James Wyatt and erected around 1808.
