Benchmark (game Show)
''Benchmark'' is a British game show that aired on Channel 4 from 1 June to 31 December 2015. It was hosted by Paddy McGuinness. Background The show was recorded at Manchester's MediaCityUK and was first broadcast on 1 June 2015. The show has been described as "a blend of the survey questions from ''8 Out of 10 Cats'' and the higher/lower element from ''Play Your Cards Right''". Paddy McGuinness, the host, has said that he found the two-show-a-day filming schedule somewhat hectic, and found himself phoning Bradley Walsh as to how it was possible. Gameplay Round 1 Two contestants out of eleven face a qualifying question; whichever contestant is closest plays for £25,000. The two contestants which face the qualifier are those who have fared best in the previous show. ''Play Your Cards Right'' (or ''Bruce Forsyth's Play Your Cards Right'') is a British television game show based on, and played similarly to, the American show ''Card Sharks''. History ''Play Your Cards Right'' broadcast on ITV from 1 February 1980 to 22 November 1987, produced by LWT, and hosted by Bruce Forsyth. LWT produced a more modern version from 18 March 1994 to 4 June 1999, initially expected to be presented by Brian Conley, who filmed a pilot show before Forsyth was lured back after he unexpectedly quit The Generation Game. In 2002, Forsyth hosted another revival, with slightly modified rules. This version was produced by Thames Television and ended on 20 June 2003. Paddy McGuinness
Patrick Joseph McGuinness (born 14 August 1973) is an English actor, comedian and television presenter. He rose to fame with the help of Peter Kay, who invited him to appear in his programmes ''That Peter Kay Thing'', ''Phoenix Nights'' and ''Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere''. He is best known for his roles within Channel 4, ITV and the BBC presenting game shows such as '' Take Me Out'' as well as, since 2019, being one of the three hosts of BBC's ''Top Gear''. ''8 Out of 10 Cats'' is a British comedy panel show broadcast on Channel 4 and its sister networks, airing since 3 June 2005. The show is hosted by Jimmy Carr; the current team captains are Rob Beckett and Katherine Ryan. The show is based on statistics and opinion polls and draws on polls produced by a variety of organisations and new polls commissioned for the programme, carried out by Harris Poll.
