Ben Van Berkel
Ben van Berkel (born 1957) is a Dutch architect; founder and principal architect of the architectural practice UNStudio. With his studio he designed, among others, the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam, the Moebius House in the Netherlands, the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, Arnhem Central Station, the Singapore University of Architecture and Design, Raffles City in Hangzhou and numerous other buildings. Biography Ben van Berkel studied architecture at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, and at the Architectural Association in London, receiving the AA Diploma with Honours in 1987. In 1988 he and Caroline Bos set up an architectural practice in Amsterdam named Van Berkel & Bos Architectuurbureau, which realized, amongst other projects, the Karbouw office building and the Erasmus Bridge in Rotterdam. Caroline Bos
Caroline Bos (born 1959, Rotterdam) is a Dutch architect. She is a co-founder of UNStudio, a large award-winning architecture firm in Amsterdam. Bos writes, lectures and teaches architecture at various schools. Her architectural drawings and models are shown at museums like MoMA. Education Bos received a bachelor of arts in art history from Birkbeck, University of London in 1991. She later obtained a master's degree in architecture at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. It was in London that she first met her husband, Ben van Berkel. Work Bos first worked as a journalist with husband, Ben van Berkel on publications such as Forum (1985–86) and "Diagram Works" (1988). Bart Lootsma
Bart Lootsma (born 1957 in Amsterdam, Netherlands) studied architecture at the Eindhoven University of Technology during 1975–1984. He is a historian, critic, and curator in the fields of architecture, design, and fine arts. He holds the chair for architectural theory at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck and is also professor at the Institute for History, Theory and Critic in Architecture at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. As head of research, Lootsma worked at the ETH Zurich and led research projects at the Berlage Institute in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. He has also been appointed visiting professor at the Academy of Fine Arts Nuremberg and at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna. Valkhof Museum
The Valkhof Museum ( nl, Museum Het Valkhof) is an archaeology and art museum in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The museum has existed since 1999, created as a merger between the G. M. Kam museum of archaeology and the Commanderie van St. Jan museum of classical and modern art. The museum's collection includes a large and important collection of local Roman archaeological finds and art (mostly modern). The museum stands on the edge of the Valkhof park, site of a Roman army camp and a citadel built by Charlemagne. The museum's building was designed by Dutch architect Ben van Berkel and was opened on 14 September 1999 by Queen Beatrix.
