Ben Nelson
Earl Benjamin Nelson (born May 17, 1941) is an American attorney, businessman, and politician who served as the 37th governor of Nebraska from 1991 to 1999 and as a United States Senator from Nebraska from 2001 to 2013. He is a member of the Democratic Party, and as of 2022, the last Democrat to serve as either a senator or governor of Nebraska. Nelson was an insurance executive before he entered politics. His first run for office was in 1990, when he narrowly defeated incumbent Republican Governor Kay Orr. He was reelected by a landslide in 1994. He ran for an open U.S. Senate seat in 1996, losing in an upset to Republican Chuck Hagel. He was elected to Nebraska's other Senate seat in 2000, and reelected in 2006. He did not run for a third term and left the Senate in 2013, and was succeeded by Republican Deb Fischer. Ben Nelson is the Founder and Chancellor of Minerva University as well as the Founder, Chairman, President and CEO of Minerva Project. Minerva Project is the for-profit educational organization that created the non-profit Minerva University with the mission of reforming global education through an interdisciplinary curriculum and fully active learning pedagogy, delivered on a proprietary learning environment called ForumTM. Prior to founding Minerva, he was the CEO and President of the global online photo hosting and printing company Snapfish at the time of its acquisition by HP. Nelson joined Snapfish in 1999. By 2002, Nelson was the CFO of Snapfish and had established himself as one of the company's lead business strategists. Ben Nelson (Australian Footballer)
Ben Nelson (born 23 January 1977) is an Australian rules footballer who played with Carlton and Adelaide in the Australian Football League (AFL). Nelson is the son of famous Sturt player Philip 'Sandy' Nelson, and accordingly played his first senior football with the Sturt Football Club in 1994. He was to join the inaugural Port Adelaide Power team in 1997 as it was admitted to the Australian Football League; however, Port Adelaide traded him and Andrew Balkwill to the Carlton Football Club for Brent Heaver in the 1996/97 offseason. Nelson made his debut for Carlton in Sturt colours—the game when Carlton wore pale blue guernseys instead of their traditional navy blue, due to a promotional deal with M&Ms. He was strongly built and played mostly as a tagger and at half back. Benjamin Harvey Nelson (born 18 March 2004) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for club Leicester City. Club career In the 2020–21 season, Nelson featured in a first-team squad during Leicester City's UEFA Europa League campaign. He was named Academy Player of the Season at the end of the season.
