Ben Gurion Airport Railway Station
Ben Gurion Airport railway station ( he, תחנת הרכבת נמל התעופה בן גוריון, ''Tahanat HaRakevet Nemal HaTe'ufa Ben Gurion'') is an Israel Railways station located in the lower level of Ben Gurion International Airport's Terminal 3. The station opened on 10 October 2004, together with the opening of Terminal 3. The railway line extending to the northwest from the station connects it to Tel Aviv and points north, while in the other direction from the station the railway splits south to Lod and southeast to Modi'in and Jerusalem. Services The station currently serves three passenger lines. In August 2019, it handled an average of approximately 22 thousand passengers per day, but its ridership declined severely with the advent of COVID-19 travel restrictions. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. An alternative arrangement is to position side platforms on either side of the tracks. The historical use of island platforms depends greatly upon the location. Eastern Railway (Israel)
The Eastern Railway ( he, המסילה המזרחית, ha-mesila ha-mizraḥit) refers to a railroad in central Israel stretching from Lod to Hadera. The section between Kfar Saba and Lod, as well as a short section just north of Hadera are currently in use but the rest of the railway has not been operative since 1969. However, in 2019 a large-scale project began to rebuild and upgrade the railway along the entire route. History Ottoman Empire The railway was constructed by the Ottoman authorities in Palestine during the Sinai and Palestine Campaign of World War I, to assist them with moving men and materiel in the war effort. Ashkelon Railway Station
The Ashkelon railway station is a railway station that is located in Ashkelon, Israel. It is the southern terminus of the Binyamina–Tel Aviv–Ashkelon and the Ra'anana-Rishon LeZion-Ashkelon suburban lines. Previously, Majdal railway station, built by the British forces during World War I, has existed at the site, and since 1920, the station served regular passenger trains between El Kantara, Egypt and Haifa. During 1948 Arab-Israeli War, the connection to Gaza Strip and Egypt was severed, but freight service on the Lod–Ashkelon railway continued. In 2002 it was decided to double-track the Ashdod–Ashkelon railway and recommence the passenger service to Ashkelon. Ashdod Ad Halom Railway Station
Ashdod Ad Halom railway station (Hebrew: אשדוד עד הלום) (also known as Ashdod Darom) is a railway station in Ashdod, Israel. It is served by the Binyamina–Tel Aviv–Ashkelon and the Ra'anana–Tel Aviv–Ashkelon–Beersheba suburban lines. Ashdod Ad Halom Station was opened in June 1995 and was fully rebuilt in 2003. Between 1917 and 1947, a small station serving the town of Isdud had also operated at the site, constructed by the British on the Rafah– Gaza–Lydda line. The station is in the Ad Halom area near the eastern entrance to the city of Ashdod. Two bus lines serve the station, one traveling through the 'city' to the central bus station and on to the terminus at Ashdod Marina. Rehovot railway station ( he, תחנת הרכבת רחובות, ''Taḥanat HaRakevet Rehovot'') is an Israel Railways station located in the city of Rehovot. It serves the city, the Weizmann Institute of Science and the nearby science industries park, as well as the city of Ness Ziona. The station is named after Ehud Hadar, CEO of Israel Railways between 1994 and 1996. Location The station is situated on the Lod–Ashkelon railway. It is located in the northern part of Rehovot, 600 meters north of the main gate of the Weizmann Institute and about 1.5 km north of the city center. Be'er Sheva Center Railway Station
Be'er Sheva Center railway station is an Israel Railways terminal in Beersheba. It is located on Yitzhak Ben Zvi street next to the city's central bus station and HaNegev Mall. It is one of two railway stations serving the city, the other being Be'er Sheva North, located near the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Design The station building is located in the north end of the platforms. As of 2021, the station consists of three platforms (two side platforms and an island platform) serving a total of four tracks. Construction works are expected to be completed in 2022 that will convert the eastern side platform to an island platform which will serve a fifth track at the station.
