Belle Of The Anna-ball
The Belle of the Anna-ball is a Hungarian beauty pageant, in which the winner is chosen from among the paying guests of the ball. It is the only pageant that was held under the communist era. The ball is always held on the Saturday in July nearest to 26 July, the name day of Anna. History The first Anna-ball was held on July 26, 1825 in Balatonfüred, a town near the Lake Balaton by Fülöp János Szentgyörgyi-Horváth for his daughter Anna-Krisztina. It was here that Anna met her husband, Ernő Kiss (later one of the Thirteen Martyrs of Arad who were executed in 1849 as the leaders of the revolution and war of independence against the Habsburg Dynasty). World War I

Miss Hungary is a national Beauty pageant in Hungary first held in 1929. History * 1929 - World War II The first pageant was held in 1929 and the winner of it won the Miss Europe title. In 1936 Zsa Zsa Gabor won the title, but she was underaged so she couldn't compete in Miss Europe. Later she became a Hollywood actress and celebrity and wife of Conrad Hilton. * From World War II until 1985 the pageant was not held, for political reasons: Hungary was a communist country. * 1985 The pageant was held again. Miss Universe Hungary is a national beauty pageant in Hungary for Miss Universe pageant. History Miss Universe Hungary was held for the first time in 1992. Since that year the owner of the pageant was Mr. Adam Fasy until in 2006. Herend
Herend (German: ''Herrendorf'') is a small town in Hungary (Europe), near the city of Veszprém. The history of the town goes back into Roman times, indicated by the findings near the precincts of the town, while in the Middle Ages a few villages occupied the area where the current town stands. Eris (mythology)
Eris (; grc-gre, Ἔρις ', "Strife") is the Greek goddess of strife and discord. Her Roman equivalent is Discordia, which means the same. Eris's Greek opposite is Harmonia, whose Roman counterpart is Concordia. Homer equated her with the war-goddess Enyo, whose Roman counterpart is Bellona. Lujza Blaha
Lujza Blaha (''Ludovika Reindl''; 1850–1926) was a Hungarian actress and singer. She was known as "the nation's nightingale", an epithet given her by writer Mór Jókai. ''"First published in the Time Out Budapest magazine's monthly column "Magyar of the Month" (2009-2011)"'' Personal life Ludovika Reindl was born 8 September 1850 in Rimavská Sobota, today's Slovakia. She married Ján Blaha, a conductor in the imperial army, when she was 15 years old. He died five years later, but she kept his surname all her life despite marrying twice more. Despite being considered a "national icon" during her lifetime, she opposed the dignified "national prima donna" that was being thrust upon her and often crossed the taboos of the epoch by being sexually provocative both on stage and in her private life. Móric Jókay de Ásva (, known as ''Mór Jókai''; 18 February 1825 – 5 May 1904), outside Hungary also known as Maurus Jokai or Mauritius Jókai, was a Hungarian nobleman, novelist, dramatist and revolutionary. He was an active participant and a leading personality in the outbreak of Hungarian Liberal Revolution of 1848 in Pest. Jókai's romantic novels became very popular among the elite of Victorian-era England; he was often compared to Dickens in the 19th-century British press. Mihály Vörösmarty
Mihály Vörösmarty (archaically English: Michael Vorosmarthy 1 December 180019 November 1855) was an important Hungarian poet and dramatist. Biography He was born at Puszta-Nyék (now Kápolnásnyék), of a noble Roman Catholic family. His father was a steward of the Nádasdys. Mihály was educated at Székesfehérvár by the Cistercians and at Pest by the Piarists. The death of the elder Vörösmarty in 1817 left his widow and numerous family in poverty. As a tutor to the Perczel family, however, Vörösmarty contrived to pay his own way and go through his academic course at Pest. The activities of the Diet of 1825 enkindled his patriotism and gave a new direction to his poetry. He had already begun a drama, ''Salomon''.
