The Lady Marjorie Helen Sybil Bellamy (''nee'' Talbot-Carey; 6 May 1860 or 12 July 1864 – 15 April 1912) is a fictional character in the ITV Network, ITV drama ''Upstairs, Downstairs (1971 TV series), Upstairs, Downstairs''. She was portrayed by Rachel Gurney. Early life Lady Marjorie was born on 6 May 1860, or 12 July 1864, at Southwold, Wiltshire in the home of her wealthy parents, Walter Talbot-Carey, 12th Earl of Southwold and Mabel, the Countess of Southwold. She has one brother, Hugo, Viscount Ashby, who later becomes 13th Earl of Southwold. She also has a paternal aunt and uncle and cousin, who succeed Hugo as Earl of Southwold. Bellamy's (or Bellamys) is the name given to the in-house catering service and dining facilities of the New Zealand Parliament. Named after an earlier British parliamentary institution, Bellamy's has been in existence since the establishment of the New Zealand Parliament in the 1850s. Originally the service was used exclusively by members of Parliament (MPs) and their guests, but now includes a restaurant open to the public. Bellamy's has been based in the Beehive since the summer of 1975–76. History John Bellamy was the deputy housekeeper of the British House of Commons who, in 1773, set up a small dining room for MPs. The original dining service expanded to include several lobbies for exclusive use of MPs. The British Bellamy's was destroyed in the burning of Parliament in 1834. Bellamy Salute
The Bellamy salute is a palm-out salute created by James B. Upham as the gesture that was to accompany the American Pledge of Allegiance, which had been written by Christian socialist minister, Francis Bellamy. It was also known as the "flag salute" during the period when it was used with the Pledge of Allegiance. Bellamy promoted the salute and it came to be associated with his name. Both the Pledge and its salute originated in 1892. Later, during the 1920s and 1930s, Italian fascists and Nazi Germans adopted a salute which was very similar, attributed to the Roman salute, a gesture that was popularly believed to have been used in ancient Rome. This resulted in controversy over the use of the Bellamy salute in the United States. The Bellamy Brothers are an American pop and country music duo consisting of brothers David Milton Bellamy (born September 16, 1950) and Homer Howard Bellamy (born February 2, 1946), from Dade City, Florida. The duo had considerable musical success in the 1970s and 1980s, starting with the release of their crossover hit "Let Your Love Flow" in 1976, a number one single on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Starting in the late 1970s, the Bellamy Brothers found success in country music as well, charting 10 number one singles, 25 top 10 and more than 50 hits overall on the country charts. ''Bellamy'' was an Australian television series made by the Reg Grundy Organisation for the Ten Network in 1981.Albert Moran, ''Moran's Guide to Australian TV Series'', AFTRS 1993 p 76 Synopsis The series focused on a maverick cop named Steve Bellamy ( John Stanton). His partner was Detective Mitchell (Tim Elston). Recurring characters in the series were the disapproving Daley (James Condon) who appeared in 21 episodes, the forensics technician Clem (Brian Young) who was in 15 of the episodes. Adam Garnett as Ginger, a street-wise child who befriended Bellamy, appeared in six early episodes but was phased-out of the series. Later in the run Tom Richards appeared as Detective Burns over five episodes. In the story Burns was ultimately revealed to be corrupt.
