''Believe'' is the sixth studio album by Canadian country music group Emerson Drive. The album was released in Canada on May 5, 2009 via Midas/ Valory/ Open Road. The album's first single, "Belongs to You," reached the top forty on the ''Billboard'' Hot Country Songs chart in the United States. Critical reception The album received mixed reviews from music critics. It received a three-and-a-half star rating from Todd Sterling of AllMusic, who said that the album was "slickly produced" and that it "sticks to the well-worn formula of the group's previous releases," but said that it had "every color of the musical rainbow." Emerson Drive
Emerson Drive is a Canadian country music band consisting of Brad Mates (lead vocals), Danick Dupelle (guitars, backing vocals), Mike Melancon (drums), and Dale Wallace (keyboards, backing vocals). The band was founded in 1995 as 12 Gauge, which consisted of Mates, Pat Allingham (fiddle), Steven Swager (bass guitar), Chris Hartman (keyboards), Dan Binns (guitar), David Switzer (guitar), and Reni Barre (drums); Swager was replaced with Jeff Loberg early on. After recording under this name, the band moved to the United States in 1999 and renamed themselves to Emerson Drive. Keith Follesé (born 1951 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is an American songwriter and co-founder of Midas Records Nashville. Early in his career, Follesé recorded with his wife, Adrienne, on A&M Records. They never released an album, and moved to Los Angeles, California. There, Follesé tried to form a band while raising his family, but later moved to Nashville, Tennessee after being persuaded by a friend. Tim Nichols (born in Portsmouth, Virginia) is an American country music singer and songwriter. Active since the late 1980s, Nichols has written for several country music singers, including Keith Whitley, Tim McGraw, Faith Hill, Jo Dee Messina, and Alan Jackson.
