Belgium Men's National Ice Hockey Team
The Belgium men's national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Belgium, and has been a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since 1908. They have played in four Olympic Games, the last in 1936. The team also participated in the European Championships from 1910 to 1932. They have won 2 bronze medals (1910, 1911), 1 silver medal (1927), and 1 gold medal (1913). Royal Belgian Ice Hockey Federation
The Royal Belgian Ice Hockey Federation (RBIHF) is the Belgian ice hockey federation, known in Dutch as the ''Koninklijke Belgische IJshockey Federatie'' (KBIJF) and in French as the ''Fédération Royale Belge de Hockey sur Glace'' (FRBHG). It is responsible for administering ice hockey in Belgium, from the national team to the local leagues to youth development. History The Royal Belgian Ice Hockey Federation was formed in 1912 by Henry Van den Bulck. He became its first president remained in the position until 1920. It was known as the ''Belgian Ice Hockey Federation'' until 1973 when the ''Royal'' prefix was added to the name. Ice Hockey European Championship 1912
The 1912 Ice Hockey European Championship was the third edition of the ice hockey tournament for European countries associated to the International Ice Hockey Federation. The tournament was held from February 2–4, 1912, in Prague, Bohemia. With Bohemia and Germany finishing equal on points, Bohemia was declared champion based on goals scored (not taking into account goals against). Following a protest by Germany, the tournament was annulled on March 22, 1912, as Austria did not become a member of the IIHF until after the tournament. Ice Hockey European Championship 1910
The 1910 Ice Hockey European Championship was the first ice hockey tournament for European countries associated to the International Ice Hockey Federation. It was also the first official ice hockey tournament between national teams in history. The tournament was played between January 10, and January 12, 1910, in Les Avants, near Montreux, Switzerland, and it was won by Great Britain. The British team was commonly identified as "England" in contemporary accounts, but the IIHF recognizes this team as "Great Britain." The Oxford Canadians, a team made up of Canadian students from Oxford University, also participated in the tournament, but their games did not count in the final standings of the tournament. 2022 IIHF World Championship Division II
The 2022 IIHF World Championship Division II was an international ice hockey tournament run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The Group A tournament was held in Zagreb, Croatia from 25 to 30 April and the Group B tournament in Reykjavík, Iceland from 18 to 23 April 2022. After the tournament was cancelled the two previous years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all teams stayed put in their respective groups. China won Group A and got promoted to Division IB, while Iceland won Group B and got promoted to Group A. In order to fill each group of the World Championships back to their normal amount of teams, the IIHF made the decision following the tournament not to relegate Israel or Mexico, who finished last in Groups A and B respectively, but instead to promote the Netherlands and Georgia, the runners-up of each group. The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1936 Winter Olympics in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany, was the fifth Olympic Championship, also serving as the tenth World Championships and the 21st European Championships. The British national ice hockey team pulled off a major upset when they won the gold medal, marking a number of firsts in international ice hockey competition. Great Britain made history as the first team ever to win an Olympic, World, and European (its second) Championships and the first to win all three in the same year. The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1932 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, United States, was the fourth Olympic Championship, also serving as the sixth World Championships. Canada, represented by the Winnipeg Hockey Club, won its fourth consecutive Olympic gold medal and sixth consecutive World Championship. The men's ice hockey tournament at the 1928 Winter Olympics in St. Moritz, Switzerland, was the third Olympic Championship, also serving as the third World Championships and the 13th European Championships. Canada, represented by the University of Toronto Graduates, won its third consecutive gold medal. Highest finishing European team Sweden won the silver medal and its third European Championship.
