James Belfer
James Belfer is an American independent film and tv producer. He is the founder and CEO of Cartuna, founder and CEO of Dogfish Pictures, and the founder and managing director of Dogfish Accelerator. Early life Belfer grew up on Long Island, New York. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University in 2009. That year, Belfer founded Dogfish Pictures to finance and produce several feature films per year. He attended NYU Stern in 2011 to receive his MBA in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Digital Marketing, and Business Analytics. He was also an Associate for the 2012 Boulder Class of TechStars and an investor in the MESA+ venture fund. In 2012, he created Dogfish Accelerator, the first accelerator program for independent film producers. He currently resides in New York City. Lauren Belfer is an American author of four novels: '' City of Light'', ''A Fierce Radiance'', ''And After the Fire and'' ''Ashton Hall,'' which was published in June of 2022. Personal life Lauren Belfer was born in Rochester, New York and grew up in Buffalo, New York, where she attended the Buffalo Seminary. The school would later serve as the basis for the girls' school depicted in her debut novel, '' City Of Light'', about Buffalo, NY during the Pan-American Exposition. Belfer majored in Medieval Studies at Swarthmore College (graduated 1975), has an M.F.A. from Columbia University, and worked as a file clerk at an art gallery, a paralegal, an assistant photo editor at a newspaper, a fact checker at magazines, and as a researcher and associate producer at CBS News and on documentary films. The Robert and Renée Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, also known as the Belfer Center, is a research center located within the Harvard Kennedy School at Harvard University, in the United States. From 2017 until his death in October, 2022, the center was led by Director Ash Carter, former U.S. Secretary of Defense and Co-Director Eric Rosenbach, former U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense. Belfer was founded in 1973 by biochemist Paul M. Doty as the Program for Science and International Affairs within Harvard's Faculty of Arts and Sciences to provide analysis on arms control and nuclear threat reduction. Following a grant from the Ford Foundation, the program was re-established as the Center for Science and International Affairs, becoming the first permanent research center at the newly formed School of Government.
