Belarus Billie Jean King Cup Team
The Belarus women's national tennis team represented Belarus in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Belarus Tennis Association. They compete in the World Group. After the 2022 Russia invasion of Ukraine, the International Tennis Federation suspended Russia and Belarus from Billie Jean King Cup competitions. History 1994–2010: Early years Prior to 1993, Belarusian players competed for the Soviet Union. Belarus competed in its first Fed Cup as an independent nation in 1994, when they achieved their best result by reaching the World Group 1st Round. Tatiana Poutchek ( be, Таццяна Мікалаеўна Пучак; russian: Татьяна Николаевна Пучек; born 9 January 1979) is a retired tennis player and current captain of the Belarus Billie Jean King Cup team. Her career-high ranking is No. 55 in the world, achieved on 22 July 2002. Many of Poutchek's greatest career results came in Tashkent reaching one singles final and seven doubles finals winning five. The Canada women's national tennis represents Canada in Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition since 1963. They are overseen by Tennis Canada, the governing body of tennis in Canada. Canada has reached the semifinals in 1988, and the quarterfinals on four occasions in 1964, 1967, 1987 and 2015. It has also only missed one Fed Cup since the inaugural competition in 1963. The 1996 Fed Cup was the 34th edition of a competition between national teams in women's tennis. The final took place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey in the United States on 28–29 September, with the United States defeating Spain to give the USA their 15th title. 1995 Fed Cup
The 1995 Fed Cup was the 33rd edition of the most important competition between national teams in women's tennis, and the first to bear the name Fed Cup. Major changes to the tournament's structure went into effect for 1995. The format was changed to a multi-tiered league system similar to the Davis Cup, and a Group II was added to the existing Group I at Zonal level. The World Group I was reduced to eight teams and the World Group II was added with another eight teams. Ties were played at home sites rather than all in one location as before. Play-offs determined promotion and relegation between World Group and World Group II and Zonal Group I. Two singles rubbers were added to the ties, which became the best of five matches. Vladimir Nikolayevich Voltchkov ( be, Уладзімір Мікалаевіч Валчкоў, ''Uładzimir Mikałajevič Vałčkoŭ''; russian: Владимир Николаевич Волчков; born April 7, 1978) is a Belarusian former professional tennis player. Natallia Marataŭna Zvierava ( be, Наталля Маратаўна Зверава; russian: Наталья Маратовна Зверева, Natalia Maratovna Zvereva; born 16 April 1971) is a former professional tennis player from Belarus. The Billie Jean King Cup (or the BJK Cup) is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The Netherlands Billie Jean King Cup team represents the Netherlands in the Billie Jean King Cup tennis competition and are governed by the Koninklijke Nederlandse Lawn Tennis Bond. They currently compete in World Group II. Current team ''Most recent year-end rankings are used.'' History The Netherlands competed in its first Fed Cup in 1963. Their best result was reaching the final in 1968, losing 3-0 to Australia, and 1997, losing 4-1 to France with Brenda Schultz-McCarthy winning her singles match against Mary Pierce.
