''Behind Monastery Walls'' (german: Hinter Klostermauern) is a 1952 West German drama film directed by Harald Reinl and starring Olga Tschechowa, Philip Dorn and Katharina Mayberg.Parish & Canham p.219 It takes place in a priory and is sometimes known by the alternative title of ''The Unholy Intruders''. It was shot at the Bavaria Studios in Munich. The film's sets were designed by the art directors Robert Herlth and Gottfried Will. Synopsis Thomas Holinka, a disillusioned veteran of the Second World War, returns from a prisoner of war camp. Having no home, he chooses to live in an seemingly abandoned priory. However, the nuns then return to the site, leading to conflict over his wayward lifestyle. Harald Reinl
Harald Reinl (8 July 1908 in Bad Ischl, Austria – 9 October 1986 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) was an Austrian film director. He is known for the films he made based on Edgar Wallace and Karl May books (see Karl May movies and Edgar Wallace movies) and also made mountain films, Heimatfilms, German war films and entries in such popular German film series as ''Dr. Mabuse'', ''Jerry Cotton'' and ''Kommissar X''. Reinl began his career as an extra in the mountain films of Arnold Fanck. He worked as screenwriter on the film '' Tiefland'' directed by and starring Leni Riefenstahl. Reinl's first movie as director was the mountain film ''Mountain Crystal'' (1949). He was Oscar nominated for his documentary feature '' Chariots of the Gods'' (1970). By the 1970s, he had semi-retired to the Canary Islands. Hanna Ralph (born Johanna Antonia Adelheid Günther; 25 September 1888 – 25 March 1978) was a German stage and film actress whose career began on the stage and in silent film in the 1910s and continued through the early 1950s. Career Hanna Ralph was born in Bad Kissingen, Germany, she made her stage debut in 1913 at the Schauspielhaus in Frankfurt.
