Hogarth made engravings based on the second version in 1736. In each pair, based on the position and appearance of the subjects, the first painting shows the couple before and the second after sexual intercourse. First painted version The first version, painted 1730–31, is now held in the Tate Gallery, lent by the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, bequeathed by the merchant banker Arnold John Hugh Smith in 1964. Each oil on canvas painting measures In ''Before'', a young man in blue clothing is making ardent advances, while his coy lover dressed in red shies away. A number of details suggest what will happen next: apples are falling from her lap, his knee points suggestively towa ...

Rush (Rush Album)
''Rush'' is the eponymous debut studio album by Canadian rock band Rush. It was released on March 1, 1974 in Canada by Moon Records, the group's own label, before it was released internationally by Mercury Records later that year. Recorded five years after the band's formation, this first release shows much of the hard rock sound typical of many of the popular rock bands emerging earlier in the decade. Rush were fans of such bands as Led Zeppelin and Cream, and these influences can be heard in most of the songs on the album. Original drummer John Rutsey performed all drum parts on the album, but was unable to go on extended tours because of complications with diabetes and so he retired from the band after the album was released. Rutsey contributed to the album's songwriting, but never submitted the work to the other members of the band. The lyrics were instead entirely composed by lead vocalist/bassist Geddy Lee and guitarist Alex Lifeson. Power Windows Rutsey was soon replac ...

This album includes many sunshine pop, baroque pop and folk rock-styled songs by the duo, including their final top 20 hit, " Before and After". Recording According to Chad Stuart, the recording had been marked with difficulties with producer Lor Crane: "I remember feeling frustrated because I wanted to arrange everything. Our producer, Lor Crane, ran a pretty tight ship, and he wasn't about to let that happen. To be fair, our touring commitments made it difficult anyway, so we surrendered to the system and went along for the ride." "Say It Isn't True" was originally written for Freddie and the Dreamers, and was included on their album '' You Were Mad for Me''. Chad Stuart remarked that he liked performing "Tell Me Baby", and Jeremy Clyde enjoyed performing "Evil-Hearted Me". Reception In a tepid review for AllMusic ...
