Beenham Murders
The Beenham murders were the murders of a teenage girl and two 9-year-old girls in the Berkshire village of Beenham in 1966 and 1967. Local man David Burgess was found guilty of two murders in 1967—for which he was handed down two life sentences—and was given a 27-year sentence for the third in 2012 after new forensic evidence brought a conviction. Yolande Waddington Yolande Waddington was seventeen years old and had just begun working for the Jagger family at Oakwood Farm, Clay Lane, Beenham, as a live-in nanny to their young daughter. Waddington was born in Maidstone in Kent and lived with her family in Newbury in Berkshire, about from Beenham, before moving to Oakwood Farm. Berkshire
Berkshire ( ; in the 17th century sometimes spelt phonetically as Barkeshire; abbreviated Berks.) is a historic county in South East England. One of the home counties, Berkshire was recognised by Queen Elizabeth II as the Royal County of Berkshire in 1957 because of the presence of Windsor Castle, and letters patent were issued in 1974. Burghfield Common
Burghfield is a village and large civil parish in West Berkshire, England, with a boundary with Reading. Burghfield can trace its history back to before the Domesday book, and was once home to three manors: Burghfield Regis, Burghfield Abbas and Sheffield (or Soefeld). Since the 1980s the population of Burghfield has nearly doubled with the construction of many new housing estates, making it a dormitory for Reading, Newbury, Basingstoke and the M4 corridor which crosses the north of the parish. Most of the former sparsely inhabited fields of the hamlet of Pingewood, in the north of the parish, are divided by the M4 motorway and have been converted, after gravel extraction in the mid to late 20th century, into lakes and are used for water sports, fishing, and other leisure activities. Emily Salvini (31 October 1989 – 3 May 1997) was a seven-year-old girl who was killed in an arson attack in her family home in Reading, Berkshire in May 1997. Her murder has never been solved.
