Bedlam (Channel 4 Series)
Bedlam was a British mental health documentary filmed at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM). The series offers unprecedented access to clinical services, patients and staff at the Trust. Overview The first episode of the four-part series Bedlam was broadcast on Thursday, 31 October 2013 at 9 pm on Channel 4. The first programme, Anxiety, follow patients through the 18-bed Anxiety Disorders Residential Unit at Bethlem Royal Hospital. This national unit treats the most anxious people in the country - the top one per cent - and claims a success rate of three in four patients. Some are consumed by irrational fears they've caused a road accident in their sleep, harmed strangers or have intrusive thoughts. One of the four people featured in the documentary says that three of them relapsed within weeks of discharge. David Nath
David Nath is a British producer and director, best known for his work on television documentaries. Career Nath directed the BBC4 documentary series ''The Year the Town Hall Shrank'' (2013), which followed the effects of the economic downturn in Stoke-on-Trent. Maudsley Hospital
The Maudsley Hospital is a British psychiatric hospital in south London. The Maudsley is the largest mental health training institution in the UK. It is part of South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, and works in partnership with the Institute of Psychiatry, King's College London. Lambeth Hospital is a mental health facility in Landor Road, South London. It was previously known as the "Landor Road hospital" and is now operated by the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and is affiliated with King's College London's Institute of Psychiatry. South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, also known as SLaM, is an NHS foundation trust based in London, England, which specialises in mental health. It comprises four psychiatric hospitals (Bethlem Royal Hospital, Lambeth Hospital and the Maudsley Hospital), the Ladywell Unit based at University Hospital Lewisham, and over 100 community sites and 300 clinical teams. SLaM forms part of the institutions that make up King's Health Partners, an academic health science centre. In its most recent inspection of the Trust, the CQC gave SLaM a 'good' rating overall, but a 'requires improvement' rating in area of safety. Bethlem Royal Hospital, also known as St Mary Bethlehem, Bethlehem Hospital and Bedlam, is a psychiatric hospital in London.
