Becharam Manna
Becharam Manna is an Indian politician representing Trinamool Congress. He won the Haripal seat by a margin of 22,000 votes, in the 2011 West Bengal state assembly elections. Becharam Manna is one of the architects of Singur Land movement and leader of mass movement against the then Left Front Government. He along with his close associates worked at the grassroot level to organise distressed farmers, bargadars, sharecroppers, agricultural laborer's etc who were aggrieved and showing protest, dharnas, rally at the work site to gain the mass and media attention. The Singur seat was retained by the sitting Trinamool Congress MLA, Rabindranath Bhattacharya. 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 West Bengal Legislative Assembly election for 292 of the 294 constituencies in West Bengal was held between 27 March to 29 April 2021 in eight phases. Voting for the two remaining constituencies was delayed to 30 September 2021. Singur Tata Nano Controversy
The Tata Nano Singur controversy was a controversy generated by land acquisition of a proposed Tata Motors automobile factory at Singur in Hooghly district, West Bengal, India. The factory would have been used to build the compact car Tata Nano. Tata Motors started constructing a factory to manufacture a car, Tata Nano which was estimated to cost $2,500 . The small cars were scheduled to roll out of the factory by 2008.
