Because Of You (Gustaph Song)
"Because of You" is a song by Belgian singer Gustaph, released as a single on 13 January 2023. The song represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 after winning ''Eurosong 2023'', Belgium's national final for that year's Eurovision Song Contest. It placed 7th in the final, scoring 182 points, becoming Belgium's highest scoring entry since 2017. It also reached number 2 on the Belgium Singles Charts. Background In an interview with Eurovision fansite ''ESC Bubble'', Gustaph compared both of his songs for ''Eurosong 2023'', "The Nail" and "Because of You". He described both songs as a call for celebrating freedom and "the joy to be yourself". Stef Caers (; born 5 July 1980), known professionally as Gustaph (stylised as GVSTΛPH), is a Belgian singer-songwriter, producer and vocal coach. He represented Belgium in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom with the song "Because of You" and finished 7th place. Biography Caers was born on 5 July 1980 in Leuven, Flemish Brabant. He started his musical career while studying at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, initially using the stage name Steffen. In 2000, he scored a hit with his debut single "Gonna Lose You", which reached number 22 on the Flemish singles chart. He subsequently released a second single, titled "Sweetest Thing". Following these releases, Caers began focusing more on songwriting and producing. He also became active as a backing vocalist, providing backing vocals for, among others, Lady Linn and Willy Sommers. The Dutch Single Top 100 or Single Top 100 is a Dutch chart, based on official physical single sales, legal downloads and since July 2013 streaming and composed by Dutch Charts. It is one of the three official charts, the other two being the Dutch Top 40 and the Mega Top 30. The difference is that these charts also include airplay data. The ARIA Digital Track Chart ranks the highest selling legally downloaded music tracks within Australia and is provided by the Australian Recording Industry Association. History The Digital Track Chart was established in 2006 and first published on 9 April. Belgium In The Eurovision Song Contest 2023
Belgium participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool, United Kingdom, with the song "Because of You" performed by Gustaph. The Belgian entry for the 2023 contest was selected through the national final ''Eurosong 2023'', organised by the Flemish broadcaster Vlaamse Radio- en Televisieomroeporganisatie (VRT).
